  1. Brilliant ride with fantastic theming, although it does seem a bit slow after several sessions on Space Mountain. One thing we did different this time was to ride at night and it definitely gives the ride a bit of a new perspective.

One tip, don’t sit at the front unless you want a slow ride – the pauses at the top of lifts, followed by the slow descent as the rest of the cars carried on up the lift were very irritating.

  2. I can recommend this ride and we really enjoyed it.

However we wanted to use the fast pass and babyswap as well. Well Fast Pass was fine but we were told for the baby swap the other adult had to wait at the exit. However when 2nd adult went to get on ride he was told no even though he had a ticket. not happy.

  3. I agree with the review before. We have been to Disneyland Paris three times now and have been on this ride as much as possible. The first year my mum and I queued up for 2 hours but if you use the fast pass, queue time is around 15 minutes so I highly recommend using the fast pass. I am not a roller coaster fan but this is my favourite ride of all. Absolutely brilliant.

  4. We have been coming to Disneyland Paris for the past seven years twice a year and this ride is one of the ones we look forward to the most!! It is very popular so expect queueing.

  5. Absolutely LOVE this ride! Think it would appeal to most, even those who are not rollercoaster fans (like myself).

It is more exhilirating (spelling?) than anything as you whizz inside and out of the mountain with gorgeous views over Frontierland (nice also at night).

Fastpass works well and we were on the ride within 15 minutes whilst the main queue was 70 minutes.

Always love this ride and scream with happiness as I try to hit the possum, splash my partner with water in the waterfall and wave at the people on the boats.

Incidentally, much faster ride than the one at all the other Disneys.

Back of the train the best place to sit.

  6. This is still the best ride at Disneyland Paris! The whole family agreed that this was the highlight of our week at Disney. Queue time was on average 60 minutes although we used Fastpass a couple of times too. If you can try to sit in the front carriage for a really wild ride!

  7. First review! I have to say that I am Spanish but I will try to write correctly.

In my honest opinion this ride is a fantastic creation. It’s not the most extreme, it’s not the highest and it’s has no loopings, so it’s a coaster for everybody. The theming is excepcionally fantastic and has a good amount of details.

This is one of the most visited rides in the park, and altough the trains charge is good the queues are big since the first hour. Some days Fastpass is almost necessary because the queue can reach 2 hours.

Well, if i just had to say a sentence about Big Thunder Mountain, I’d say that I’ts worth it. If you haven’t been here you haven’t been to DLRP, and when you come home everybody will ask you about the mine train ;-).

    That’s all.

  8. A great ride and one of my favourites. The queue is really detailed but quite long, you really just have to chance it.

    By rrdp1994 on 3rd August 2009

  9. One of the best rides in Disneyland! The roller coaster looks absolutely beautiful and you can even discover nice details in the queue area.

Speaking of which, you should really try to get a fastpass, otherwise you’ll have to wait for about 2 hours.

And also try to sit in the back of the train! It’s much faster, much better that way.

By mafju on 6th July 2009

  10. Great ride. One of my favourites. But its not fast enough for my liking!

Still great fun though. It’s quite long as well which is good but means the queues are usually quite busy. Best at night when you can see all over the park.

    By tinkerbell09 on 5th July 2009

  11. In my opinion this is without a doubt the best ride out of both parks. Definitely not one to miss! A great rollercoaster for all ages, it’s not too scary so children can still enjoy it (though very young children might find the two dark sections scary – my favourite parts!), yet it’s exciting enough for teens/adults to enjoy. Overall the ride lasts a lot longer than some other rollercoasters (eg. Indiana Jones). Ask if you can sit at the back for a slightly more thrilling ride as it goes a little faster and the drops are more obvious.

With good reason it has some of the largest queues in the park; we managed to get on it 6 times during our three days without queuing ‘properly’ once. Either fast pass it, or twice we waited outside frontierland (there’s a rope there) at around 9.45am. At 10am they drop the rope and everyone hurries straight to Thunder Mountain – doing this we got on the second train of the day once and the first train of the day the next day!

  12. What a wicked ride, probably the best in both parks. We have a family of 10 that go to disney ranging from three years old to 54 and everybody loved it!! Gone on this ride so many times and never get bored. Suitable for all the family and just brings a smile to your face!

The ride is amazing at day or night, the views are great, but at night time you can see all of disney park illuminated. It also lasts long, a good few minutes. Fastpast should be used though as queing can take hours. We used fastpast and was in within 3 minutes.

    Just an amazing ride!!!

    By Jodie_Disneyland on 26th April 2009

  13. Rided 5 times this april , one of them at night wich was great and more thrilling, and i have to say that it’s the greatest attraction in both parks. I say this because it’s a family coaster,(even if i think children should be at least 6 years old to ride it) so all family can enjoy the thrills of a real roller coaster. It’s not too “hard” and not too “easy” to ride, it’s perfect! The theming is amazing! The ques are LONG so use fastpass when possible. ENJOY!

    By miguel1974 on 22nd April 2009

  14. BTM is our favourite ride at Disneyland Park…If you’re not already in a good mood, you will be after riding this one! My sister and I find it most magical to be riding BTM when it’s dark outside! Great fun!

By skurvy on 11th April 2009

  15. I’m not a rollercoaster person but I loved this ride!! Only got to go on it twice because the queues are sooooooo long (and you feel like you’re in a cattle market whilst waiting!) The music being played while you wait will drive you mad by the time you get on the ride itself as well!

You get some great views of the rise itself as you are queuing, although hearing the screams made me a bit nervous!

I screamed my head off all the way round but it was more excitement rather than fear!! Travelling that fast in the pitch black was very scary though! Great views while on the ride as well! Remember to smile for the camera!

Either go as soon as the ride opens or get a fastpass. Don’t waste too much precious Disney time queuing!!

    By Panto_Princess on 22nd February 2009

  16. I love this one.

I rode this 10 times last time I was at disneyland paris.
As the people said below me it is best to ride it in the dark. It’s much more fun although it can be a bit more frightening

By zipped on 14th February 2009

  17. In my opinion the best Big Thunder Mountain in any of the Disney parks. Even better in the dark!

By disneybrit on 11th November 2008

  18. This is an amazing ride. Great theming, and good thrill’s. The way that it is themed with Thunder Mesa is great, and it is definitely one of the best rides in the park. The queue is interesting, and there are good views of the mountain itself.

If you are after a thrill, sit at the back, if you aren’t good on roller coasters then sit near the front. It goes quite quickly, and you get some airtime on a couple of the drops. The best part is when you go into the dark tunnel at the end, especially at the back.

The queues are long, so try to go during candleabration, park closing time or during a parade. For an extra thrill, go in the dark.

Overall, a very good ride, one of the best disney rides ever made.

    10/10

    By dlrp123 on 8th November 2008

  19. Just brilliant….dont miss this ride…even better in the dark !. If there are fireworks it is a great place to watch them from as you go around. It can be busy so Fast Pass is well worth it. Also the queue is at its shortest when a parade is on.

Anyone could go on this and will come off with a big grin on their face. We love the atmosphere in Frontierland in general, but this ride is simply the best .

By Huan Pablo on 2nd November 2008

  20. Definitely the best Big Thunder I have ever been to. Putting it in the lake was a great idea. Went in Easter and the queues were short at the end of the day; everyone was watching Candlebration. A must do.

    By smm2fan on 11th October 2008

  21. My sons (13) absolute favourite. I think it’s a bit noisy sometimes. Much to see during the ride. Don’t miss this ride!

By Bettan on 30th September 2008

  22. The finest Mountain at a Disney park I’ve been to. The whole queue, the themeing and the layout of the ride as simply amazing, so watch them hats and glasses, cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!

By Bopshop on 26th September 2008

  23. Big Thunder Mountain is the classic “runaway mine train” ride which has been copied a billion times in parks all around the world.

BTM or “My First Rollercoaster” (as is often the case) is a perfect example of Disney Imagineering. A family-friendly ride within beautifully themed surroundings.

This is most kids first taste of thrill rides (it was mine at Disney World back in 1989) and as such isn’t too fast or scary, but the overall experience is really rewarding.

So how does it rate on the Magic M patented “F Scale”? The Five F’s are…

FEEMING – How well Themed the ride is to its surroundings – the ride “experience”…
FEATURES – How many rollercoaster features the ride has – drops, corkscrews etc…
FAST – Just how mind-bogglingly, earth-shatteringly fast the ride goes…
FEAR – Just how soul-destroyingly, pant-wettingly scary the ride is…
FUN – The over enjoyment of the ride…

    ——————————————————————-

    FEEMING (Theming)

From the moment you walk into Frontierland you feel you have walked into the set of a western. The sound of light country and western music flows through the streets and the smell of a barbeque wafts around your excited nose! Disney has really gone to town with the authenticity, with rusted mining tools and even horse-tracks in the concrete walkways.

The town of Thunder Mesa is built around the “Thunder Mining Company” and the awesome sight of Thunder Mountain. At Disneyland Paris nothing really looked fake or contrived, you just feel you are walking into another time or place.

The ride itself has all the trapping of a working gold mine – lots of heavy wooden gates everywhere, over-turned carts, barrels and even donkeys! The ride takes you deep into the caves under the river and out and around the mountain itself. You even witness cave-in’s and falling rocks.

    The perfect Disney experience.

    5 out of 5.

    ——————————————————————-

    FEATURES

As I said this is a ride designed with families in mind. I’ve seen kids running scared from the likes of Space Mountain but they alway run to BTM. As such the features are a little “tame”.

BTM has the standard rollercoaster “Peaks and Drops” and “Sharp Corners” but the only other exemplary feature is the “Darkness”.

One of the first sections of the ride is a long, deep and fast ride through the pitch-black tunnels. I believe this is the only Disney Ride that uses total darkness.

    Three features means…

    3 out of 5

    ————————————————————

    FAST

Of all the Disney “Big Five” this is by far the slowest of the rollercoasters.

Naturally the slower speeds mean you can take in more of the beautiful surroundings – buts its just not enough for most adrenaline junkies.

Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by the thrust of the Rock n Rollercoaster?

    3 out of 5

    ———————————————————————

    FEAR

This is a thrill ride by definition but it doesn’t muster up the gut-wrenching fear of its brothers. OK, there are moments when you are SURE that rock is going to land on you – but you don’t come out with the rush of a Space Mountain for example.

One way to boost up the fear factor is to go on this ride AT NIGHT. Not only does the mining town look really pretty but you can’t see what is around the next bend! Go during the Fantillusion Parade – there’s never a queue!

    3 out of 5

    ————————————————————————-

    FUN

OK, I may have seemed a little harsh on BTM but you’ll see why I scored this ride so low when I compare it too the other rides. But I’m not knocking BTM at all – its a great fun rollercoaster. And much more than just a “ride in a box” like Crush’s Coaster – its a full on theme park experience.

Also this ride has the almighty FastPass system so you can beat the queues! My Top Tip – get a pass, run to the Phantom Manor, go see the ghosts then your ticket should be ready.

Never, EVER queue for this ride because a “40 minute wait time” quickly becomes 50 for 60 before you know it!

    5 out of 5

    —————————————————————–

Overall Score 19 out of 25

  24. Got to be one of the best rides in the hole of disneyland whenever i go to dlrp i have to go on this ride at last twice i day. I went on this ride once at christmas in the dark and the park was lite up with all the christmas lights it was so amazing and magical i jumped straight back on again.

    By jlh85tink on 6th September 2008

  25. I could spend every minute of my holiday on this ride. I don’t no how it does it but it’s a ride that gives you…. a tame thrill and so is perfect for the whole family! It is brilliantly themed as is the rest of Frontierland and all the old tools etc. while your queueing are brilliant to see.

You can have long waits sometimes so try to get on early morning or while the parades are on at night (sometimes its less than a ten minute queue and they let you go round again). Bettering this get a fast pass to ensure you aren’t queueing for more than fifteen minutes at any time of the day.

    A must ride! 10/10

    By Barnsey313 on 28th August 2008

  26. Ahh… Big Thunder Mountain. Truly one of the best rides I’ve been on in my entire life. Use Fastpass to breeze straight on, but if you’re stuck in the queue don’t fret as the meticulous detail and theming is fascinating.

Once on the ride, be prepared for the first drop as it is one of the most extreme but also one of the most exhilarating. You’ll soon adjust to the breathtaking speed as you fly around tight corners and plunge into pitch-black mine shafts.

I’d say children must be at least 8 (providing they reach the minimum height) to ride. Look out for more props and effects on the ride, especially the bats in the final drop and the moving possum, donkey and goat. Try and ride at least twice to take it all in (I went on five times over six days, no kidding!).

By jiminyfan on 26th August 2008

  27. Big Thunder Mountain…

This is one kool ride a must for everyone, My daughter and I went on numerous times during our holiday in 2007. We found it more exciting if you can sit right at the back.

Yes there can be a wait as it is a popular ride and worth the wait, but hey c’mon its DISNEY everyone wants to experience the fun, so basically if you’re a right grump and hate waiting STAY AWAY from the good rides!

    By grahame913 on 13th July 2008

  28. This ride really is something “grown ups and children can experience together”.

Try riding it during the day and at night, it’s a completely different experience because you do not see the “lights at the end of the tunnel” and there’s no kind of illumination on the ride.

    By Sil1994 on 10th July 2008

  29. I think its a ride you can see once, but I wouldn’t wait for it so long again. I waited one hour with fastpass and that’s definitely too long for me, for this ride.

It is very nice for families with smaller people, but not for thrill searching people, like me ;)

    By Satine15 on 9th July 2008

  30. Really great ride, Indiana has little better theming, but Big Thunder Mountain ride is pure pleasure. We enjoyed it twice, it was amazing experience.

By DTL on 16th June 2008

  31. The best ride in the park!! It amuses children and adults alike, and you never get tired of it. If you want to get on this ride quickly then get on it
    1. first thing in the morning- you may get a few goes in a row without queuing, or
    2. last thing at night- the staff may let you stay on a few times in a row without getting off if its not busy. Go during the fireworks/parade when everyone else is occupied.
    3. get a fastpass.

Great theming on the ride and in the queue. Excellent!!

By alice on 16th June 2008

  32. This is possibly one of the best rides in Disneyland Paris (Along with Space Mountain Mission 2). Although there is always a very long queue (Even with a fast pass), It is worth the wait. It is the longest coaster there. And is very exciting..

By liammackessy on 16th June 2008

  33. Excellent theming and the ending in the pitch black is a hoot!

By malice on 2nd June 2008

  34. The best ride at the park!

    By stitch22 on 8th May 2008

  35. This is one of my all-time fave rides. I just came back 2 days ago from disney and needless to say went on a few times, the rain didn’t even put me off! However the one bad thing I noticed this time was the clanking and banging as you went up the banks was so loud that my ears were tickling and it was not painful but uncomfortable. Had to put hands over ears at some points. They may need to get this sorted out.

This ride is better than the Orlando ride as its on an island and finishes and starts in the dark when going underground.

By disneymad on 2nd May 2008

  36. What a ride. I loved every minute of it. My daughter (5) was a little apprehensive but she loved it. The queue was quite long but take advantage of the fastpass. The whole theme and feel of the ride is excellent. Definately one of my favourite rides in the park.

    By pmdavies33 on 11th April 2008

  37. This is my favourite ride at Disneyland paris!! it was the first rollercoaster that i ever went on!!

It is very wise that in the summer you take advantage of the fast pass system in place or else you can spend over 2 hours waiting in the hot sun!!

For the best ride sit to the back of the train!!

By Sophie on 3rd April 2008

  38. This is a fantastic ride, one of my all time favourites in the disneyland park! You never have long to wait in the queue and if there is quite a long queue there is always the fast pass option! Cant wait to go on it again when i go in june 2008!!!

By Gem on 23rd March 2008

  39. One of my favourite rides in the theme park!! Headed straight for this ride at park opening and was only about a 5minute queue, when came off it fast passed it and managed to ride 4 times that day!! Doesn’t seem like a lot of people know about the fast passes because a lot of people were queuing even though wait time was 30-45minutes! the queue itself is quite good seeing the different “mine” props laid about.

The beginning and end of the ride is in darkness which is a little scary because you don’t know whats coming up and the train goes quite fast, is a few wee drops but it all adds to the fun of it!! The reason for this is to go under the lake as the ride is in the middle of the wee lake. There are brilliant views from up here but I was reluctant to bring out my camera due to the fast moving train, possible to take a few pictures when the train starts clanking or going uphill.

    By chloe-adt on 15th March 2008

  40. A must for any visit to Frontierland. Get a Fastpass if the queues are too long – you may still have to wait awhile however as the ride is very popular.

The initial part of the ride is in the dark as you have to pass under the lake but it adds to the anticipation of what comes next. The clanking of the train up the slopes and the descents and twists are great – and you do get a good view of the surroundings – if you dare look to each side as you travel at some speed around the mountain.

The ride photograph is usually taken on the descent towards the water of the lake on the Phantom Manor side of the ride but lately the water plumes have been switched off – possibly due to the colder weather of winter.

As you enter the dark passage to retun to the “station” the rush of wind over your head and the braking into the Thunder Mountain ride station always say – come back and have another go.

By Red Baron on 6th March 2008

  41. Awesome! loved it, didn’t have to wait long as it was mid-december. but the fact that some of it is in the dark makes it far more thrilling as you cant see where the track is going.

By evilfest on 25th February 2008

  42. Once again this is a ride with outstanding theming. The imagineers really did take their hats off for this one. I love the queue to board and I love the music!

By allie on 22nd February 2008

  43. This is one which I can go on again and again and still spot different things – animals, track features. My mum hates ‘roller coaster’ rides but she has gone on this ride several times. The views are breathtaking and the speed is awesome. I especially enjoy travelling under the lake going out and coming back to the loading house.

The best tip for this ride is to get a Fastpass as the queues can get very long. I also find going on it just before the park shuts helps to reduce waiting time.

By ROrgan on 19th February 2008

  44. This ride is extremely clever and was VERY expensive to construct. This ride was so expensive because of having to build an island from scratch and dig out an under water tunnel. This ride is great but i wouldn’t classify it as a big thrill ride because i see so many children going on it and going on again and again.

By koaster king on 19th February 2008

  45. My favourite ride of both parks! It’s fun for all the family, perhaps a little scary for small children but im sure some would enjoy it. Its perfect for people like me who don’t enjoy the scariest rides but like a gentle rollercoaster. Very good.

    By Tinkerbell93 on 23rd January 2008

  46. My family and I (ranging from 8-50) all enjoy this ride. It is always our first stop whenever we visit Disneyland Paris. It is not like a typical rollercoaster as it has some very nice touches (going underground to get to the mountain). The older members in my family (who are scared of big rollercoasters) especially enjoy this ride because, even though it is high up, it feels like you are close to the ground.

The queue to this ride is sometimes daunting (I have queued two hours ) but i feel it is worth the wait.

If you want a tamer ride, head for the front of the train. Ask to sit at the back if you want a more thrilling ride!

By kiwifruit on 15th January 2008

  47. I loved this ride, didnt ride it on my 1st visit to disney as im not usually one for the bigger rides, but on my 2nd visit was able to walk virtually straight on during the afternoon parade, so decided to go for it.

This ride is very fast at points and in my mums opinion abit bumpy and jolty but we both loved it, you really need to ride it a few times to see all the effects and scenery tho.

Id recommend this ride to most people, apart from very small children, but be warned the dark parts might be abit scary for even some older children.

One of the best rides in the park.

    By loulou123 on 10th January 2008

  48. I love this ride, it is such a treat for all ages, and even those who detest rollercoasters! The theming, the music, the effects (watch out for the rocks above you head that move, and if you are sitting at the back watch how the mine carts tilt when you go up the last inside hill ;)) are all fabulous, and so well integrated you could be forgiven for not noticing them. I’m so sad this attraction will be shut next week when I go – but then I must have been on it around 300 times at least so I have a bit of a cheek! No excuse for missing this one – but for goodness sake do not queue, get a fastpass!!

    By wendybird7 on 9th January 2008

  49. My absolute favourite at Disneyland (may be surpassed in March when i go on Terror Tower)
The ultimate run away mine train
Ride is quite a long one, but the queues are always mega long,
My advice get a FASTPASS i do and instead of waiting an hour in the normal queue, get on in about 10 minutes!!
Amazing turns and drops and when you go in the tunnel it seems to speed up!!
Best Ride at Disneyland Paris by far!

By iwerksdisney on 2nd January 2008

  50. What an fantastic ride. We have been to dlrp 4 times now and never botherd to go on it as the queues was massive or it was closed for matience. We decided to go on it september 07 while the queues wasnt too bad ant what an experiance it was. The details of the ride was fantastic. One of the best rides we have been on. We went on it 4 times and cant wait to go on it next year.

    By grahame913 on 31st December 2007

  51. Fantastic ride with unbeatable theming! Fast pass is a must, otherwise you could be in for a long wait! However, it’s worth a visit the last half hour before the park closes and when the parade is on. Have very fond memories of going around several times in a row with the children. A classic!

By markpsych on 28th December 2007

  52. The perfect family coaster, it’s has everything! Tunnels, a very long layout, big theme and also water!!

By manakin on 5th December 2007

  53. Woo hoo! First time I visited Disneyland Paris I never got to ride this as the queue was so big and I didn’t think I’d missed out, but I realised when I rode it this time that its one of the best rides there. The drop at the end is the best!

By lisseyloo on 4th December 2007

  54. The best ride in the wild wild west!

By marc on 25th November 2007

  55. I absolutely love this ride. Its just about as scary as I can take! Its one you can just do over and over again. The effects are brilliant and the curves and drops are great fun. The queues can be a bit off putting, but fastpass is certainly the way to go, that or get to it as soon as the park opens.
    Fantastic 10/10

  56. WHAATTT???

I’ve ridden Thunder Mountain in California, Florida and Tokyo and thought I was a brave boy – no problem. Boasted to my 6 year old that “it’s OK, it’s not a baaddd roller coaster. . . but

The first thing I noticed about this one is that the ride (Thunder Mountain) is on the other side of the wide river from the station. Hmmm – how does it get from here to there?

    Well – I Found Out!

Out of the station, the first thing it does is dive into a deep dark tunnel (under the river) to emerge on the Mountain.

It’s fast, furious, and scared the pants off me (while hugging my littel girl). It’s faster and longer than the others – and brilliant.

We both came off saying “We’re not doing that again”.

Two days later – WE DID!

Brilliant, and pure Disney. Beautifully conceived and designed.

  57. BTM is a masterpiece: The theming is exceptional and utterly convincing, and the mountain is an impressive and beautiful sight, towering over the rooftops of Frontierland, creating an exciting contrast to the calmness of the river which surrounds it.

The ride itself is a relatively tame, family-friendly design, which you would expect to bore the nipples off a hardened coaster fanatic. The ride does not go particularly fast, it has no inversions, and even five year olds can ride it without suffering any kind of long-term psychiatric help. However, the layout of the ride, the theming, the endless twists, turns, lurches, hills, falls, sudden drops, water splash, the fast, and the breezy tunnels the train races through on it’s course around the mountain make the ride undeniably fun to ride; forcing the rider to be grinning from ear-to-ear when the ride pulls into the station.

  59. One of my family favourite rides, we have been there so many times we lost the count!
Queue can be very long during weekends but it was quite easy to ride during normal weekdays and anyway it goes quite fast. And in the last hour before the Park was closed the queue went down to about 5 minutes.
If the weather is cloudy and windy it gets very cold on there.
But you just need to shout out loud and you dont feel it anymore!!

  60. This is also one of my favourite rides. The only one of it’s kind in a Disney Park to be situated on an island which makes it unique. Although I love the thrills of roller coasters that turn you upside down, which this one doesn’t, it never fails to please, it’s fast, fun and great for all ages. I would recommend you get to this ride early as the lines can build up. Enjoy the views over the rest of ther park whilst on the ride. I’m off on my 8th visit to DLRP soon and will certainly ride BTM as many times as possible. So hold on to your hats and glasses for this is the fastest ride in the wilderness!!!

  61. This is the best ride in Disneyland Parc. An immaculately themed roller coaster that the whole family can enjoy. The ride is bookended by two tunnels, unique to Disneyland Paris, which are fun and fast. The scenery throughout the ride is humorous and well done. Although this roller coaster is fun and thrilling, the ride never enters “scary” territory which can be a letdown to some thrill seeking guests. However most guests (including me) love this ride, which leads to long lines throughout the day.

This is probably the most popular ride at Disneyland Paris, and although it is fast loading for a rollercoaster it gets long lines quickly. The best option is to either ride first thing in the morning, or grab a FASTPASS. If you’re at Disneyland during a busy period, FASTPASS may sell out, so get one before lunchtime.

Big Thunder Mountain is a tame rollercoaster, however some younger children may be intimidated. Most kids should find it to be a fun ride.

  62. I agree to, it’s one of the best ride in the resort !
It’s long, beautifully themed, really great ride. And for the queue, it might be long sometimes but I think it’s one the one of the waiting area where you don’t get bored… So much things to see.
One thing I can’t help but notice is the noise… Those “Crr crr crr crr crr crr crr crr” in the lifts just give me headaches ! lol.
Such a great ride to do at night too !! With that great view on the park. So beautiful.

  63. For me Big Thunder Mountain is an absolute must for everyone! I agree that children under the age of 5 will probably not enjoy the underwater passages, but will love the twists and turns once they are a little older. Perfect family attraction, with great themeing that actually leads you to believe you’re about to enter a gold mine! My tip is to do this ride first thing as it gets busy quickly, use the entrance to frontierland by the liberty arcade to sneak past the crowds!

  64. This was the first ride I ever went on at disneyland resort paris and going up to it (having never gone to a theme park outside the UK) I thourght it looked slow and boring! But once I got on it, I loved it! Although my freind, who was sitting next to me decided to throw up at the end, it diden’t ruin the experience and magic. From the second I walked got off the train I was a huge Disneyland Paris fan!!!

  65. This is my favourite ride. I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to the bigger rides, but this one makes me giggle and smile and make stupid noises all the way round. It’s just fast and scary enough to be fun!

The queue is normally fairly huge, but fastpass is the way to go with this! I normally pick up a fastpass first thing and then join the queue while it’s not too bad.

A definate for Magic Hours or later Park openings.

  66. This is my favourite ride in the whole resort. Big Thunder Mountain is a perfect family adventure (children should be at least 5 years I think), it’s much fun and you see a lot while driving fast around the mountain. Even people who are afraid of fast coasters should try BTM, it’s a totally unique and detailled, typical Disney-attratction!

If possible, try to get a Fast Pass for saving time!

  67. Another Disney classic, which once again is better than its Florida counterpart. The themeing on this ride is out of this world, and this attraction should certainly not be missed by ANYONE! Even those slightly afraid of roller coasters or “big” rides, I’d certainly recommend trying Big Thunder Mountain – you won’t be disappointed!

  68. Big Thunder Mountain is one of the best rides in the whole resort with it’s great theming, thunder mesa story and big thrills. From the moment it starts until the moment in stops you will love this roller coaster which is situated on an island (the only Big Thunder Mountain in all the Disney parks across the world to be on an island). Being it is such a great ride the queue can be very long most of the time, so using fastpass Big Thunder Mountain would be the best option but try to get to the fastpass queue as soon as you can.

  69. Many have said it and i agree, this Big Thunder Mountain is the best out of all of them so far. The way its situated on an island and you ahve to go underground to get to it is great. Nice Drops Turns and themeing. The Queue is very big though and at sometimes isnt very fast moving.

Big Thunder Mountain

Mine-train roller coaster around the mountain, with fast-paced drops and turns.
