  1. Queued for 40 minutes for a ride that didn’t really live up to the weight of expectation it has to bear. I’d do it again, but only if the queues were short, otherwise it’s a bit of a waste of time. There are at least two other rides in the Studios that are better than this, and whose queues don’t stretch for a painfully long amount of time. 8/10

  2. Hi guys!

Just returned from Disney (1st – 4th Dec this time round) and must admit longest I waited for Crush’s Coaster was 15 minutes (I got lucky right!)

Anywho, I think that this ride is brilliant. I love the way it initially surprises you with that first drop, and continues to do so throughout! Definately no kids ride that’s for sure!

I got quite scared on Bruce the Shark (rode both back and front this trip and admit front was quite noticeably scarier ha ha) but I absolutely fell in love with the jellyfish scene!

A brilliant ride that I cannot fault. I warn you guys though, it’s not what you expect ha ha!

  3. OH MY DAYS! Never heard so many complaints for a roller-coaster…

I understand that everyone has opinions, however, when some of these people say sort it out because they haven’t got a fastpass on this ride, there is a reason. I am not in any way affiliated with Disney but many tests have been done for this ride and its fastpass system. As you know this ride only takes 4 at a time… putting a fast pass on this ride wouldn’t make the queue any faster. They would only be able to offer an extremely small amount of fastpasses out per day (as you know you are asked for a time slot), go and get your fast pass at 10.15 and there wouldn’t be any.

Calculations are done with capacity of ride, and by my estimation this ride wouldn’t take many more passengers than 800 ish per hour, it simply isnt enough for fast pass otherwise the normal queue wouldn’t move at all. I have personally queued for an hour and a half for “spinball whizzer” at Alton Towers UK, which has been manufactured by the same company.

  4. Mediocre ride which wasn’t really worth the queue wait (45 mins). I went down backwards on this one and didn’t spin one bit or ever face forwards. The main drop was a bit of a rush as I couldn’t see what was coming, but after that it was a bit boring.

IF this ride had a FASTPASS or was open during EMH (planned in December for the Studios) then I think it would be worth some further attention.

  5. There’s a lot of negativity coming out of people’s mouths! I can only tell you, you go on with a negative face – you come out with one. Here’s my experience though!:

    August 6th 2009:

Headed to Walt Disneys Studios quite early. Tonnes of people scattered about everywhere & sweltering hot sun (Quick Tip – Bring a portable fan at this time of year). Studio Tram Tour’s queue line is out of hand so I decided to try the new & exciting looking crush’s coaster. Queue monitor reads – 85 minutes & that is the most sensible time compared to the other attractions so we stand in qeue.

We get into the building 2 & a half hours later, up some stairs, down the skinniest corridor & down another flight of stairs before being brought to the front as I was with somebody else. I was put into a shell with another couple & the ride began. It started off by going up a small ramp down & into the ‘outside bit’ & through ‘finding nemo’ scenes & up a dark ramp where a scary bruce the shark (don’t worry, small kids love him – not too scary at all!) jumps out at you. Then you get to the top of the ramp & hear, ”grab shell dude!” & the ride begins.

You slowly bob up & down & turn from time to time, but it does go quite fast & the drops aren’t big only slight slants, there are no inversions (loops or corkscrews etc…) either! I loved it & my mum who thought she was petrified of roller coasters & is in her 50’s! now has gone roller coaster friendly!

This is an amazing ride! All ages will love it! Give it a go Grandparents!

  6. I definitely agree with everyone else about the queue. Disneyland should put a fastpass on this as soon as possible. We were there as the park opened to the public and we were stood in the park for over an hour. Thought the ride was a bit overrated for my liking but it is a great addition for people who are fans of fast roller coasters. Don’t like the fact that you can see the track laid out in front of you. Not my cup of tea so not likely to go on it again when I go next year.

  7. Good ride! Very surprised. At first it seems like a nice kiddie ride, but then you go into the main ride and you are on a proper roller coaster, and as others have said the spinning is a good idea, but it can leave you a bit nauseas.

However: The queue was the longest we came across, on the quieter days about 25 minutes, on the Saturday 1 hour 40 minutes. This ride needs a fast pass system. Sort it out Disney!

By grahamswindonboy on 3rd October 2009

  8. Brilliant. The queue was long – said 60 mins – but was actually 40mins. Kept moving though. When you get to load I felt you had to jump in to the cars very quickly!

I managed to spot my husband & daughter while whoooshing past them on the outside bit, very good how you get spun round. Would recommend.

  9. Holy cow!

Agree with everyone about the length of time for lining up.

We actually got to the park first thing before the gates had opened and were in the line immediately and still had to wait for about 40 minutes before we got near the loading area at which time the ride broke down and we had another 15 or so minutes before we got on.

The line up was rather boring compared to other lines and only became properly themed once we got inside.

So, got in my turtle shell and thought I knew what to expect as was riding with my family who had been on before and warned me as I am a ‘nervous’ passenger.

The ride started out great with me facing forwards, ready for the drop into the outside with my face prepared in a happy grin for the watching public – I too have watched many a scared passenger whizz past.

The ride then becomes nice and kiddyfied for all of 30 seconds with the characters and music then Bruce the shark starts going mental as the turtle shell starts to climb a worrying looking track…

You’re then plunged into what I can only describe as a large washing machine where you plummet, forwards and backwards, spinning this way and that at high speed in the darkness with the occasional glimpse of neon fish and Crush.

I personally hated it because I do get motion sick and in the end I just closed my eyes, leaned back into my seat and screamed occasionally!

At the end of the ride I was facing backwards so could see the track we had come down and I tried desperately to get my head back together so that I would be able to climb out quickly back in the loading dock without falling over and looking like a right eejit.

The rest of my family loved it again but there were an awful lot of crying kids, green adults and traumatised tots around!

Can only imagine what some of those kids were thinking – nothing like Pan’s Flight or Dumbo!

However, kudos to Disney for creating a thrilling ride that can appeal to all ages – and they do warn you that it is a high speed turbulent ride in the dark so I can’t say they didn’t tell me!

Wouldn’t do it again but can see the appeal for those who like to feel dizzy and sick in the darkness whilst their belly strains against the tight barrier of a turtle shell!

  10. Great ride and the spinning feature is superb! The only downside is the queue length. We hit this ride first thing last Wednesday and it was already at 2 hours! Fastpass should be moved from the flying carpets on to this ride!

By Timthemix on 1st September 2009

  11. This rollercoaster has some good points but other bad points.

Layout is well designed with some cool over-banked curvs in the darkness and a few drops. 7/10.

Intensity is average. It’s not Rn’R nor Big Thunder. Spinning gives some extra points. 7/10.

Theming is fantastic! It combines a small dark ride with the intensity of the coaster. The marine theming is always good. 10/10.

Waiting line… slow. This park moves a big amount of people that this ride can’t afford. No fastpass and low capacity. 1/10.

FUN: Crush’s coaster is very funny. The waiting line is worth it. The station is cool, the track is funny and surprising and I like the trains. 9/10.

Rating: 7/10. They have to do something with the queue but all the rest is great.

  12. For my part, it’s totally disappointing …

It’s another dark ride like SM or RRC but it goes a lot smoother wich is not a bad thing , but the ‘EAC stream’ immersion could have been a LOT better – maybe some sort of tubing with projections…

The waiting line is long, long, very long…

  13. Brilliant ride!!! when you see it coming outside you think its just going to be a wee kiddie ride but the middle of it is so unexpected. The colours of the fish and everything are amazing! Desperately needs a fastpass as queues are always mental.

  14. This is such a great rollercoaster!
Its such a smooth ride, and so unexpected!
Such a laugh when your riding it backwards(:

  15. Great rollercoaster! The decor is fantastic and it’s a really surprising ride. The spinning is nice and just when you begin to think it’s just for little kids….it becomes a bit more thrilling!

The only drawback is that there is no fastpass available…

By skurvy on 11th April 2009

  16. A fantastic ride!! Like a childs space mountain crossed with a classic Disney dark ride. Try getting to this ride asap as it is incredibly popular and desperatly needs Fastpass!

  17. I loved this rollercoaster!

Although it did break down several times and staff were never able to tell you when things would be up and running again. But I guess these things do happen in theme parks and you will never know when things will be fixed again.

All in all a good ride, cant complain!

By Gem on 29th March 2009

  18. Great coaster ride.

Unfortunately the two days we queued for 45 minutes and when we got to the head of the queue, it broke down!! Once was bad, twice not on. Made a complaint and got a pass which allowed us to go in by the exit, bypassing the queues. Saturday morning and queuing time was 2 hours, went in the exit, 5 minutes later, been on the ride and out again!

Thought would be too scary for 4 year old but he loved it.

    By dogmad1 on 11th March 2009

  19. As a coaster, this ride is great. It’s surprisingly fast, plenty of dips and drops and is fun and thrilling. The cars spinning also adds to the fun. As a dark ride, this ride is OK. There’s a couple of scenes you pass through before the coaster starts, and by Disney standards they are of mediocre quality. Don’t expect a Pirates of the Caribbean style dark ride, it’s more a spruced up Fantasyland-style attraction.

The big problem with Crush’s Coaster though is the line. There’s nearly always a wait, sometimes a long one, and the ride just doesn’t justify waiting for 60 minutes+. Even 30 minutes is pushing it. The coaser is brief, and the dark rides segment just don’t have the wow factor to justify a long wait. Best bet is to ride first thing when there’s a short wait, but certainly don’t wait longer than 30-40 minutes unless you’re a major Finding Nemo fan (or the kids won’t let you get away with not riding.)

  20. On first appearances, this ride seems like one for the kids. However, after standing in what is usually a very long line, it is actually a very enjoyable and original ride, different to anything in any of the parks.

By Vegitabeta on 19th February 2009

  21. Wonderful attraction with only one big failure: the queue is much too long! It must be done at the beginning of the day.

    By eleo80 on 19th February 2009

  22. This ride has to be my favorite in the studios. the theming is amazing. The queues for this ride are pretty long but it’s very much worth the wait.

The spinning towards the end is amazing. I think little kids will find it a bit scary

  23. I love this ride. It took me completely by surprise, Can`t remember when I had so much fun on a roller coaster. If you like dark rides and coasters with surprising turns you will love this too!

One more thing: this ride is not for people that expect an adventure for the kids, this is a real coaster! (with great theming:-)

  24. I first rode on Crush’s Coaster a year ago and despite the line which was advertised as a 45 minute wait (we were actually and hour) I enjoyed it more second time around. I knew what to expect and was able to spend more time enjoying the scenery – I hadn’t even seen Bruce before (maybe I had my eyes shut!). I still don’t understand why though the lines for this ride are so long when the Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster you can walk straight on to. I guess this ride is more child friendly? Still worth waiting for though. 9/10

  26. What a shock i got on this ride! I expected it to be a gentle ride for kids with the fast part being the outdoor bit you can see. Well i was wrong. We waited till later in the day as had been 60 minute wait, so went late and it had gone down to 35 mins.

You start off gentle enough, but after going outside you are shot straight up spinning and twisting in the dark. Then go back down backwards. i felt sorry for my son who was in the back to begin with so never saw what was coming! Didnt see much as had my eyes closed most of the time while my husband laughed at me all the way through.

It was excellent, but not what i expected. Would i of got on if i had known beforehand?

By nattynoo on 19th November 2008

  27. This ride is quite different from any other Disneyland Paris ride. The queue was quite long but in my opinion it was worth the wait. I loved this ride.

It starts slow but then you go up the pipe that is in the film and Bruce the shark starts to chase you all of a sudden you go flying up the pipe. It is dark and you start spinning around. You have no idea where you are going but it is amazing!

For a bigger thrill on the first ride sit backwards as you have no idea where the top of the ramp is or where you are going at first!

    By DisneyFan22 on 25th October 2008

  28. I was really scared in the dark part of the ride and I don’t think I will go on this attraction any more time. I thought it was a ride for kids with a lot of fine fishes to see. But my son (13) and my husband loved it and went on the ride two more times. You must really like rollercoasters to enjoy this one.

Big warning for long queues, go there direct when the park opens.

By Bettan on 30th September 2008

  29. Crush’s Coaster is a one-of-a-kind ride which is exclusive to DLRP. You won’t find this Finding Nemo themed ride in any of the other Disney parks around the world.

Crush’s Coaster is also the newest ‘coaster’ type ride in Disney’s bulging arsenal. Its an interesting twist on your standard rollercoaster but how does it measure up on the F-Scale?

    The Five F’s are…

FEEMING – How well Themed the ride is to its surroundings – the ride “experience”…
FEATURES – How many rollercoaster features the ride has – drops, corkscrews etc…
FAST – Just how mind-bogglingly, earth-shatteringly fast the ride goes…
FEAR – Just how soul-destroyingly, pant-wettingly scary the ride is…
FUN – The over enjoyment of the ride…

    ———————————————————————————

    FEEMING (Theming)

With one of Pixar’s biggesst blockbusters as a backdrop you would think the Imagineers would not be able to go wrong with a ride like this… But in my opinion this ride is just a little lack-lustre with its theming.

The ride is in the Toon Studio area of Disney and as such is located in a large warehouse. When you think about other highly-themed rides like the rotting facade of the Phantom Manor or the epic scale of Big Thunder Mountain, the fact C’sC is located in a LARGE BLUE BOX doesn’t do much for me.

So the inside is something else? Well yes and no…

The inside of the loading area is themed like a small finishing port complete with (very plastic looking) animatronic seagulls going “mine mine mine!” However it all looks a bit “flat” and too much like a movie studio and not enough like a theme park adventure ride… After 20 minutes of queuing inside the box those seagulls get pretty annoying…

But once the ride kicks off the fun really begins!

    Score – 3 out of 5

    ————————————————————————————-

    FEATURES

Its the features of C’sC that really make stand out from the crowd. The most important of these… IT SPINS!!

The Coaster cars are in the shape of turtle shells and have four seats – two facing forwards and two facing back. This means the ride had two very different experiences and indeed DOUBLE THE FUN! You climb the first incline either facing Bruce the shark or staring down into the abyss! Then you hit the first corner and it send the shell into a spin!

The ride has the normal peaks and drops, and sharp corners of a standard rollercoaster but this ride is inside and in the dark – with a few fish and bubbles swimming about for good measure. But due to the spinning nature of the ride everytime you go on C’sC it feels like a totally new experience!

    Score 5 out of 5

    —————————————————————————————

    FAST

When I first read about this ride on the internet I was expecting a fairly slow ride for kiddies. In fact DLRPMagic.com is calling this ride the new “Peter Pan’s Flight” in “kid’s favourite” terms. However this ride is REALLY FAST!

Ok it might not be “Rock n Rollercoaster” fast but its throws around plenty of G-forces and feels like lightning!

    Score 4 out of 5

    ———————————————————————————–

    FEAR

So kids love Finding Nemo and the Turtles but will they love this? I honestly think this ride is too scary for little kids. Sure it has its cute moments like the video wall with a 3D Nemo that chases you, but this is an INTENSE ride!

With Big Thunder Mountain you can see everything curve coming and brace for it – on C’sC ever twist and turn is a heart-stopping shock!

I got on this ride expecting it to be OK… I came off breathless, buzzing and screaming for more! But then again I’m 26 and not 7 years old…

    Score 4 out of 5

    ————————————————————————————-

    FUN

You may have noticed the tone of this article started rather negative and ended amazingly positive that it because of the way I experienced the ride.

When I first tried the ride it was shortly after opening in Early December 2007. Normally a quiet time for the parks with shorter queues. However, Disney Studio’s new baby at the time was hot property and always had a queue time of at least 45 MINUTES… AND NO FASTPASS SYSTEM!

Anyone who has used the FastPass system will know its a godsend and frees up hours of waiting time. Not having a pass available on a blockbuster ride was just insanity. I am told by DLRPMagic.com that a FP system has now been installed but it did effect my enjoyment a little.

    I had to knock a point off…

  30. It’s difficult to review this and you need to consider it in 2 parts.

Part 1 – the queue…….I feel for the CM’s on this one, it’s such a slow loader and demand is so high. What really gets me is the ignorance and attitude of some people who simply try to cut in line – last time we were there I had to physically restrain a man there with his family who was trying to stop someone cutting in. Whilst there isn’t much the CM’s can do (I know what I would do), I was pleased to see the offender held back by formal security when we came off the ride.

Part 2 – the ride – it’s fabulous and I could ride and ride it……I must admit though, I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth the early morning rush to Crush anymore what with the elbows out approach to rude people.

  31. Just got back from our first ever visit to DLP and was interested to see other peoples reactions to this particular ride. We had looked forward to it as Nemo was one of our boys’ fav films (now aged 8 and 6) and the hype around meant we just had to have a go despite the queues. We planned to get in to the Studios as early as we could but didn’t realise they were opening earlier than the advertised time to get people in and queuing already.

I joined a relatively small (about 30 people in front of me) fastpass queue (right out of Studio 1 by Flying Carpets) at 9:40 as we couldn’t even see the end of the actual ride queue already snaking towards Place des Stars! (Wed 27/8) and waited. Fastpasses aren’t issued until the the ride is open and on this particular day 10am came and went. A very jovil Albert came to appease the ever growing fastpass queue explaining that the ride was having technical difficulties and they can’t open the fastpass distribution until the ride is open and by now it had got to stage of “I been waiting this long I’m not giving up now”. Sent hubby to ride flying carpets with the kids and watched the parade emerge from the gates next to the queue – shame the ’stages’ all faced the other way. Suddenly we were in business had got the coveted 4 passes required for our 11 – 11.30 slot.

We shot off to take in the Tram Tour – fantastic, and made it back just in time to find a small fastpass queue. The waiting time for main queue now stood at 2 hours! A french family rolled up while we were patiently waiting and barged in front. A lady in front pointed out the queue in no uncertain terms and, I kid you not, they totally blanked her and continued to push their way through. What I couldn’t understand at this point is how the cast member standing right there said and did nothing to stop them. However I must add that this is the only time any such rudeness occurred in the 4 days we were there.

A minute later we were ushered to the beginning of the indoor queueing area where hubby was given a bright yellow lanyard to wear as they were monitoring how long it took from that point to getting on the actual ride (about 10 mins). Well, I sat with my 6 year old, who I hasten to add, doesn’t particularly like fast, dark rides as we started our journey on the EAC.

The first part we loved, all the glowing under sea creatures and Nemo etc. and the outdoor portion (at least you could see were you were going/had been), then the surprise of what was a fairly intense, fast ride. Couple that with the dark and disorientating spinning of the car, I could feel my youngest tense with fear. I wasn’t all that happy myself so held his arm and tried to sound as happy as I could about it for his sake. Like most people I had expected this to be a smoother, gentler ride with more to see, but don’t be fooled. It may not go upside down, but when you can’t see a thing and don’t know what’s coming next that doesn’t detract from it from a thrills point of view. I would have enjoyed this a whole lot more if I hadn’t had to worry about son no. 2! Son no. 1 however, loved every minute – forwarned is forarmed!!!

    Have fun!

  32. There’s no way around it, the queuing is terrible, as soon as the park opens there was a queue all the way from the ride to the front gates. And the queuing system is no where near big enough to take it so they’ve had to make a ‘make shift’ queue made from ropes which looks messy and gets in the way of the flying carpets.

However the inside of the queuing system is ok, there’s some amusing signs to read, and inside the shore bay is done perfecty with the seaguls on the roof calling ‘MINE MINE!’

The start of the ride is slow and nemo and squirt great you for a matter of seconds, you simply race though the coral and jellyfish scenes, these could have done with being slower. But the next part is very good, you enter the pipe and hear the sharks call ‘fish are friends not food’ leading to a fast blast up the pipe with Bruce learing up the side!

However this is much better if you are in the front seats as you really feel the force of the pressure.

The next part is the best, a spinning, racing ride in the dark with bubble lights up the walls! You don’t know whats coming next and at some points feel like your upside down.

It’s definately not for the faint hearted and one member of my family hated it! But i completely loved it!

Alot of people have complained that alot of the story is missing but the ride IS Crush’s coaster and it’s all about ‘riding the easten Australia current!’ which is, if you remember in the film a fast pace ride!

Just had to ride it again!

By Rachhh on 28th August 2008

  33. Great ride, but not really worth it!

It’s over before you know it plus most of the ride is in the dark so you don’t really see much.

By zipped on 19th August 2008

  34. One hour and fifteen minutes wait and then it’s over in two minutes. Was it worth it? – i’m not sure. The ride was fine although a lot of the themeing was missed due to the speed of the ride. The best bit was the outside section which comes at the start of the ride.

    By phildis66 on 13th August 2008

  35. Imgine Alton Towers Spinball whizzer but in a dark room with a lot of white lights….if you can;t imagine that then look up the spinball whizzer and if it doesn’t look your cup of tea – don’t go on this – the track layout is identical in places (as are the style of carriage you ride in hmmm….), including a side-on semi LOOP.

My 33 yr old husband and I (28) rode this 3 times and we LOVED IT!!!!! It is now our favourite ride in the whole park and I think because from an adults point of view it is very unexpected! If you love your coasters like we do, then you will LOVE this I have never laughed so much in my life; if however you are not very adventurous/brave/don’t like the dark(it’s not pitch though)/suffer from motion sickness/do not like sudden drops/anything fast/won’t go on Thunder Mountain even (which is way milder IMHO) I could go on….then this is NOT the ride for you.

I don’t like the dark (hands up who’s 28 and afraid of the dark?!) and I didn’t have a problem with the dark part. Within 2 seconds of launching (literally) you get a feel for what the rest of the ride will be like (although by then it’s too late), the bit of the ride you can see from the outside is the first part and it is actually faster than it looks, I now watch this to see peoples expressions as when you understand it makes it funnier to see, my fearless hubby and I were totally taken by suprise would have loved to see us shoot past that bit! After this initial “launch” it goes all calm and neon and nemo-esque and typically themed, very pretty, before going up this long steep tunnel… I joked that usually if you go up as a rule you have to come back down… my hubby laughed and we both said ah it’s meant to be a kids ride after all how bad can it be….? well we were facing backwards in the shell-it is worth noting that it doesn’t matter where you sit, we rode 3 times and it was different each time, it’s about weight distribution. We shared the shell with two smaller “dudes” and we got in forward facing, soon as it started our weight dragged us so we were back facing, second time we were sharing with um large folk so we ended up forward facing despite climbing in facing backwards and third time we shared with a couple who were same build as us and we ended up doing the whole thing sideways…but on the plus side it is like a different experience each time, anyway back to the ride-how bad can it get?

Well we finally reached the summit of this slope and before we knew it we were being sent backwards down a vertical drop (that was a weird feeling-your stomach tells you which way you are going though!) that went on for I reckon a good 15-20ft, i think i yelled oh my god, even hubby made a noise….then that was it, you are swirling and spinning and there are stars everywhere (well bubbles-white dots of light basically) very cool surfer music and all i know is we whizzed about whooped with sheer suprise (especially that half loop for which you either end up facing the floor or the ceiling-really catces you out! it is a vertical semi circle of track!) and we laughed till we cried. We must have looked a right state getting off!

    FANTASTIC!

  36. This ride is just fantastic, you just don’t know what to expect first time round, my wife and I including our 21yr daughter tried it out, but bless my wife started it ok but as soon as the ride truly got into motion she froze.

My daughter and I loved every second on it and decided to try it again, yes its a popular ride and the wait drags on but its worth the wait once you get on it.

People though should really read any reviews before trekking to Disney to get feed back on these rides, as I’ve read a few reviews and Nemo didn’t get all thumbs up.

But hey… you have to try it once to make your own judgement up, if you dare!

  37. My eight year old daughter and I went on this ride in November 2007. We queued for just over 90 minutes and I have to say it is the worst ride I have ever been on. We are not really roller coaster fans and as the ride was Nemo based I was shocked how scary it really was.

It starts off ok, but we did not enjoy the roller coaster in the dark bit at all. We both came off feeling very sick and dizzy, as did the other 2 people in our car. I’m sure it is great for roller coaster fans but definitely not for the faint-hearted in my opinion.

    By lindar06 on 10th July 2008

  38. I really liked this one. It’s a funny ride, I love the dark ride scenes. The queue is too long, it was a bad idea not to make a fastpass entrance, but when I was there in October, you waited not only an hour, I waited two hours…

But this year i’m looking forward to see it again =)

    By Satine15 on 9th July 2008

  39. Awesome ride! The queue time is the only thing bad, and there’s no Fastpass.

    By Sil1994 on 9th July 2008

  40. Very bad experience. First of all, we have to wait for more than two hours for the first ride. Reason was “technical difficulties” on the ride itself. As we understand, talking with people in the lines, this is pretty common problem.

Marketing for this ride, is much more interesting and relaxing than the ride itself, really is. This was our first ride in the parks, first day of visit, and my wife and 11-old daughter were scared!!! After that, I went to the ride alone, for two times because I was curious, what is the reason why people wait for so long.

Maybe I didn’t understand the thrill, maybe I have problem with the ride. But, I saw a lot of frightened people, girls with tears in the eyes, people with very white faces of fear, after Crush’s. And, as conclusion, I have to say, that there is much better and much funniest rides, rides, as Indiana and Aerosmith.

The main problems are long waiting lines, there is no FASTPASS for the ride, and I don’t like the way how they manage locking in the seat. I felt very unsafe and unsecure with this small brake over my stomach. For us, this was the worst experience of the entire holidays.

  41. You have to get on this early morning or during lunch as the queue quickly gets massive, and there is no fastpass. The ride starts off pretty slow and calm, then suddenly…. whoosh you go flying and spinning around in the dark, so you have NO idea where you are going to turn to next. A excellent ride, and one all the family can enjoy.

By alice on 16th June 2008

  42. This ride is well worth the wait!!!
Its one of those rides that you will never forget!
Sadly the queue is HUGE for this, and they have dismissed the idea of a FASTPASS, so get to the park either first thing in the morning or during lunch.

By Tinkerbell on 19th May 2008

  43. This ride surprised me- a lot. Spinball Whizzer is a ride at Alton Towers which has the same (or very similar) track layout to Crush’s Coaster, which I very much enjoyed- but this is MUCH better simply because the coaster section is in the dark and you have no idea where your turtle shell will take you- this makes it much more fun and is surprisingly fast.

Thematically, it is not on a par with the other rides in the resort, however it is enough to make it seem as though you are underwater (with bubbles projected all around the track) the dark ride portion of the ride is gorgeous and features some very impressive projection technology and scenery. It is a very fun ride- almost as much as Big Thunder Mountain or Tower of Terror.

However- the ride does look like it was done on the end of a shoestring and the theming could be better, it is a shame that the track is an ‘out of the box’ design, the same as at other parks (though you wouldn’t notice with all the spinning involved and because you can’t see whats going on), and the queue is very long and very boring.

By davidrsykes on 16th May 2008

  44. Very nice ride with a lot of action and some entertainment. Could be more theme-based on the film but it’s ok. Long line ups, no fast pass.

    By stitch22 on 8th May 2008

  45. This was a fun coaster when we eventually got on it. The wait was horrible (45 minutes in April). I would have skipped this one but our eldest daughter has now reached the magic height that lets her on some of the bigger rides now, and try convincing her she doesn’t want to ride!

It’s quite a fast ride once it eventually gets going. We suffered a breakdown for one of our rides which meant another long wait.

By speakle on 4th May 2008

  46. I don’t think Disney got this quite right and they can’t change it now. There was a short cute bit at the start that could have been a bit longer, and maybe broken up a little with the outside bit.

Then the actual ride itself with the swirling about, you don’t actually go upside down but you feel like you do because of spinning and I think the ’shell’ is on its side at some points. You dont realise you are spinning just being hurled about. The ride ends very suddenly and is too short in relation to the length of queue. Also because of the steep hill we were pulled up at start I was expecting a huge drop at some point that didn’t come. Quite disappointing because of no drop and it was over too soon, though you couldn’t take much more swirling about.

I think it could have been done more like splash mountain in america, with more scenery interspersed with a few drops and swirls and then the fast bit at the end as it would have lengthened it without making you ill. I would like to go on again, but the queues were too long when we were there and there was other things to do.

By disneymad on 1st May 2008

  47. I rode this last June not long after it first opened. I loved the whole experience…except the queues. My daughter (5 years old) loves the movie and all the build up but hated the ride because it scared her. I guess it is quite an intense ride with alot thrown at you. Hopefully I can coax her to ride it again when we return.

    By pmdavies33 on 11th April 2008

  48. An amazing ride. I am quite dissapointed that Nemo and Squirt was only shown a couple of times!

The queing area is great…the only trouble being that I had to queue for a good hour and a half…so it is wise to get their early!

Not one for Neck problems! My mum is still suffering now!! Although she said that she loved it and would go on it again!!

    Fantastic ride!

By Sophie on 3rd April 2008

  49. Headed straight for this ride at park opening to be greeted with a 60minute queue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but was well worth it!

You board the shell at a harbour fishing village; each shell sits 4 people – 2 facing forward and 2 facing backward. As the ride starts you meet Nemo through some visual effects and then are taken outside briefly and back inside, there are some steep and sharp turns and drops…almost feels like your doing a loop the loop. It is brilliant to not know which way you are going to be facing (we ended up doing the drop backwards making it even more scary!!). Think that there could be more visual effects or lighting (as someone has said below perhaps blue lighting to make you feel as if your underwater) because it’s pretty much just in darkness.

The ride was pretty short for the length of time we queued, i definately think that disney need to look into fast passing this ride!

The height restriction for this ride is 107cm, however I noticed some kids got through the height restriction at the start of the queue only to be told when they were boarding the ride that they were too small…also noticed a lot of children crying as they cam off this ride – perhaps because of darkness not sure?!

Was expecting a photo on this ride, although nothing came – perhaps another thing that disney need to look into.

    By chloe-adt on 17th March 2008

  50. Crush is a really fun ride, but is deceptive as it is quite an intense coaster, and doesn’t really go with the nemo theme (there were several children at the end in tears!!!) The queues are Extremely long and it breaks down frequently!!!!

    By cHarrington87 on 14th March 2008

  51. This was one of the main reasons for vsiiting in February 2008 as we had seen the ride being built the year before.

We got to the Studios just as they opened the doors on a Sunday and joined the queue and we still waited nearly an hour before we got to ride – despite some guests trying to push into the queue and soon getting told to leave it and join the back of it!! (There is no similar scheme for the Studios to allow Disney Hotel guests to get in two hours before the Studios open, as there is for the Park).

Seeing that part of the ride leaves Studio 5 and makes a brief appearance outside (what happens when it rains!!) we were eagerly awaiting the experience.
The queue winds its way around what is meant to be a dock – I love the two seagulls – MIne, Mine!! and the clever use of advertising graphics (for example, Jacques Boat Cleaning Service!).

You sit in what appears to be an up-turned turtle shell and are restrained by a lap restraint with a strirrup handle and off you go. (Note as each “shell” takes only four people, families would have to consider how they seat themselves – two of you face forward, two face rearwards, at least initially.)

You start by going outside into the fresh air and then up a chain lift. After that your are turned and twisted around the ride but there is little to see. Disney could make the ride look as if it were underwater by using blue lighting and other effects. After two minutes or so you come back to the dock area where Crush delivers a final goodbye.

Although it has a certain appeal, there is nothing to distinguish the ride from some of the others in the park or studios. It is too dark and there is only the sensation of turning, some “g” but no real visuals.

As with many of the rides in the Studios, Disney has lost the sales opportunity of a souvenir photo of you on the ride.

  52. I was really pumped up for this ride, the way it had been promoted was good. BUT then when I rode it I couldn’t help but feel something was missing. After you have climbed the long and high chain lift you then enter the main coaster hall (a term i made up) there is not anything to look at, disney could of made it better by adding corals that you fly through or a similar spiral effect in space mountain mission 2 (but blue). It is still enjoyable BUT is not worth the two hour wait, and it likes to break down a lot.

By koaster king on 19th February 2008

  53. I was expecting a peter pan type ride, what a shock I got, the ride starts very nicely, but then you get thrown around like being in a washing machine. You are not really aware of where you are or whats happening. Saying this however the ride is fantastic.

By purplrrainbow on 3rd February 2008

  54. This is such a cool ride! You think its gonna be a little boring at first with the story of Nemo even though the ride goes quite fast, but then you get to the middle bit of the ride and what a rush! The spins and turns are not too sharp and just right for little kids… Great ride!!

    By disneybabygirl92 on 1st February 2008

  55. Absolutely amazing… thought it was going to be on the same level as Peter Pan! How wrong we were. Its thrilling in a way you don’t get with some of the other rides, you really get a feeling of weightlesness and the scenery is dreamy. 9/10 because on all days I was there, it was broken down at least once.

By Aisling on 31st January 2008

  56. Brilliantly imagined and presented, the technology is much more advanced compared to other rides like Pinocchio and Snow White. Great fun for kids and adults but may be a bit fast for some. Queues WILL appear quick so get there straight away as early as possible, don’t be put off it the line is outside the ride itself as they don’t let people through till 8 o’clock. One of the most advanced rides in the both parks.

By chip n dale chum on 25th January 2008

  57. Well, this is a spectacular ride, very very funny and exciting. I know that the queue is very long, but the first time i did it i was very surprised! I went one week ago, the queue was very short, and i haven’t seen how long the queue can be… but boy, this is an excellent ride!

By manakin on 15th January 2008

  58. Never actually got on this one, as had read very mixed reviews about it. A lot of people think this is a tame kids ride as its nemo based, but whilst i stood debating whether to go on or not i sure lots of kids come off crying there eyes out, and a lot of the kids on it didn’t look happy as it passed outside.

The queue for this ride is always very very long, though this may have changed with the opening of tower of terror and there is no fastpass system as of yet.

    By loulou123 on 11th January 2008

  59. Nice theming whilst you’re waiting inside. The ride could have been up there with the classics, but it’s just too short in my opinion… and it’s still breaking down all of the time. Why???

By markpsych on 9th January 2008

  60. This is a fantastic ride, but they really need to sort out a Fastpass system for it ASAP! The ride has a tendency to break down a lot which is a real shame, especially if you have been queuing for a while – but do not simply walk away as they normally give out paper fastpasses for those who wait, which enables you to come back any other time and get on immediately (through the staff entrance).

The effects are wonderful in the first section of the ride, and are just on the right side of cutesy – this in no way prepares you for the latter half! I was absolutely shocked at how intense the second half was, I thought it was a little kiddie’s rollercoaster! It is absolutely insane, my mum and I were laughing out of shock for about half an hour afterwards.

Do not miss this ride, if there is a queue I would say it is worth waiting about 45 minutes for, and I normally do NOT do queues. If you chat away and have photos to look at like we did, it flies in.

Also, now that Tower of Terror has been put up, it may have an effect of drawing the thrill-seekers over here so the queues may settle a bit. And for those with young kids – this is even wilder than Big Thunder Mountain, so be aware of this before you go on!

    By wendybird7 on 9th January 2008

  61. It was out of order for half the day and then the queue was 90mins plus, so didn’t get on it :0(

By Newyearbaby on 5th January 2008

  62. One of my favourite rides. Not really for the kids, even though it’s Finding Nemo based. Agreed with comment below, its rather like spinball whizzer at Alton Towers but in the dark!

By iwerksdisney on 2nd January 2008

  63. The 2 times I waited in line to get on Crush’s Coaster we were turned away because the ride had broken. Very Disappointed considering its the newest ride so should be the ride that needs to fixed the Least!

By Angela on 26th December 2007

  64. Great rollercoaster but don’t be decieved by the Nemo theming that it will suit all younger visitors. The coaster section is really quite surprisingly intense and there were plenty of houling kids at the exit. As the coaster part is is in the dark its at least as scary as Thunder Mountain. Expect very long queues but its a great ride with plenty to keep you on your toes

By kevinaiden on 14th December 2007

  65. A superb ride !

The queueline, although not amazing, is still very good, especially for the Studios.
The dark ride part is totally fantastic and immersive, though a bit short.

As for the rollercoaster part… it could have been more themed, but it is soooo fun ! You’ll never know where you are, it is very fast BUT very smooth !

9/10, only because 10/10 is now reserved for the Tower of Terror (my new standard for what a Disney masterpiece should be)

By LeoofTerror on 8th December 2007

  66. I have just returned from my 8th visit to DLRP and had read the reviews on this ride and was looking forward to trying it out for myself. Being a fairly new attraction the queue was about 40 minutes but it was well worth the wait. As mentioned in previous reviews the waiting area wasn’t very interesting.

I thought it was going to be a much calmer ride and was pleasantly surprised by the drops and turns in the dark. I also liked the brief part of the ride outside the building where everyone waiting can see your expressions as you whizz by!

I highly recommend you try this ride if you like roller coasters – you won’t be disappointed! 10/10

By junglebaggie on 6th December 2007

  67. I expected this to be a kiddies ride, but it was quite fast and the effects were amazing. It reminded me of a slightly slower version of Spinball Whizzer at Alton Towers. It was a nice change from the faster Rock and Roller coaster. I would definately recommend it!

By lisseyloo on 4th December 2007

  68. Having just returned from 3 days at Disneyland Paris, I have to say that I thought Crush’s Coaster is one of the best rides I have been on. It was smooth and fast and brilliantly themed. I was looking forward to trying this ride and was not disappointed. Yes, the theming in the queue could have been better but the ride itself was wonderful. Highly recommended!

By herbiesmum on 12th November 2007

  69. Crush’s coaster is by far the best coaster at WDS, the technology is much more advanced compared to other attractions such at Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains and Les Voyages de Pinocchio. It really looks like your underwater and the coaster towards the end is amazing the way the cart spins and you’re in the dark. The only downfall is that the queue for the ride is extremely long but well worth the wait.

By Josh Herczeg on 4th November 2007

  70. We never got on this one.

Between 60 – 85 mins queue on both days we were there throughout the day. Fastpasses gone by 10:30am. The most popular ride at the Studios by far but they should try Fastpassing it better.

By Dave Loseby on 26th October 2007

  71. The queue for the ride is very disappointing. It just seems like they ran out of money after making the ride. The line up in the queue is far to wide so watch out for unsuspecting guests running and budging.

The ride itself is a 10/10. The dark room scenes are unbelievable. Be aware at the top of the large hill that your coaster does spin. We weren’t ready for this the first time and well it made it a lot of fun but when your going down the first large drop backwards and don’t know about it, its a bit terrifying! Other than that have fun and surfs up dude!

By mousemickey on 25th October 2007

  72. This ride is great but be prepared because it isn´t so easy like it appears to be. It´s a great feeling the dark ride, in second everything changes, and you feel like you´ll be project to the dark. Great!

    By galileu2000 on 24th September 2007

  73. I have been quite disappointed about this ride.

The outside queueing line is depressing but the inside one is not much different.
The ride itself is a lot quicker than i thought, the first swoop is endless and the turtle shell didnt make me feeling i was protected enough.

Both me and my son felt dizzy and with a weak stomach after , he wanted to try it again and i didnt.
When they show you the preview on the Hotel’s Tvs it looks like there is a lot to see as you ride but actually there isnt , just dark and more dark and every now and then the shadow of a character.

5/10 it needs improving (a lot of)

    By giuly09 on 23rd September 2007

  74. I think this ride is great! The queue line is a little boring, but it moves pretty fast and before you know it you’re on the ride!

The dark ride section fantastic. It’s a little short, but the coral reefs look really good and the Nemo and Squirt projections look almost real! I also liked the lift hill part where Bruce tries to attack you. It wasn’t scary at all, but it was probably one of the best lift hills I’ve been on.

The coaster part was the only part where I was slightly disappointed. You can see all the track and there is literally no theming apart from some blue lights. The layout is very fun though with some great little drops and turns.

    I rated this ride 8/10.

By RnRCj on 22nd September 2007

  75. This was a lot more of a ‘rollercoaster’ than I anticipated. The lap bars are really misleading – you start off thinking it will probably be like Big Thunder Mountain, but it’s not. If you sit facing forwards, you get to see a lot more in the ‘dark ride’ section. Saying this, (and if you’re a rollercoaster addict) it feels a lot more intense sat backwards as the drops and sharp turns seem to pull on your body a lot more.

Some cars spin more than others – I don’t think it’s anything to do with weights of passengers as we went with 2 children behind us, a couple in their 20’s and a mother and a child. It was different each time. The part where your shell goes outside is almost immediately after boarding, which is a nice surprise and the lift hill is very fast.

We had queue times displayed of 40 mins, although timed it on our watches and it was really only 25. On the weekends, be prepared to wait in excess of 120 minutes. This is insane – so either do it at about 1.30pm in the weekdays (during the parade) or run to it as soon as the studios open. It’s worth a 25min wait.

I love this coaster, it is somewhere between the feeling of Indiana Jones, the fast but smooth turns of Rock n’ Rollercoaster and the final dark section of Big Thunder Mountain. Fantastic.

    By Martha86 on 20th September 2007

  76. Excellent attraction, unfortunately without fastpass entrance. So we were among the first to enter WDS at 9.00, but had to wait for almost 40 minutes because everyone was running and pushing. I’ll be in the park last weekend of september, but i will not do this attraction unless there is a fastpass entry.

    By stitch1981 on 17th September 2007

  77. This is a really cool ride !

Not digging the ‘waiting line’ section… It quickly becomes boring (especially because of the 101s that make you stay even longer in this section…) and until you get inside and see the seagulls (my favorite part in the loading area !) and stuff, it’s not really interesting.

The ride, though, is absolutely great ! Far more than I expected ! I love being on the back seats for the first part, and then the first drop in the dark ride. Juste huge !

And I think they should have planned FastPass tickets for this attraction… wouldn’t have been a bad idea…

By thevoicewithin on 12th September 2007

  78. A very fun ride, but was much faster than I expected! I had my eyes shut for most of the fast section as it made me feel dizzy, but Big Thunder Mountain used to be my limit, this has pushed the boundaries for me a bit so I might branch out into the bigger rides next time I visit!

The theming is very well done as well. I love the loading area, and it’s all done with a lot of care and attention. The ride itself is very smooth and you don’t feel thrown around at all.

By ernieprongs on 11th September 2007

  79. Very attracting ride with a short but really cool darkride part. The rollercoaster itself can make you feel kinda dizzy since the cars are spinning and the coaster has some sharp drops and turns.
