  1. Not sure anymore.

Used to love this ride, especially when it went backwards. However, this year I felt that it wasn’t worth finding. It was very short, and although I didn’t dislike it, found I could have been spending time doing something else.

There was only a five minute wait though, so I’d suggest it if you’ve done everything. Otherwise, give it a miss and head to Big Thunder Mountain.

  2. Indiana Jones is what it is, a runaway coaster with a loop (a very tight one at that) but after going on coasters with loops of over 100ft, this tiny loop really pushes the Gs.

We have to remember this is Disney, and they don’t want to totally scare the pants off you. A little less comfortable than BTM, however has a loop and for some small peeps, this may be their first loop. Theming is good with the last corner of the queue un-veiling the loop in way that if you blink at the right time you wouldn’t know it had a loop. Been many times and queue has never been more than half hour. One to ride for all ages UNLESS you have any back or neck problems, but the warnings are everywhere.

Do ride it, only lasts about a minute, and only the big drop (which can be seen from viewing the ride) and loop are “scary” to some. Another great disney coaster!

  3. I think the ride is great, but there should be more things like special effects and stuff from the Indiana Jones movies. I think that would complete this ride!

  4. This ride offers a short thrill – short but sweet! There’s not much Indiana Jones theming apart from the queue music, though the temple looks very authentic. It’s a bit bumpy, but nothing as bad as Space Mountain! I’d go in the evening – the queues being shorter then and the atmosphere being more exciting. The queues have never been massive when I’ve gone, but if they are and you want to ride, I’d get a FastPass, as the queues is nothing special. Not as good as any of the big names like Big Thunder or Tower of Terror, but it hits the spot nonetheless.

Making it go backwards again would make it a more thrilling ride, but it’s not bad as it is. 8/10

  5. The whole setup of this ride is unreal! Such a great ride. I agree with the other reviews about it banging your head a little but its fine as long as you don’t lean forward. Gets really fast after the first big drop. It’s not to be missed!

  6. Such a good ride!
If you look in the far distance, just before that first stomach jumping drop,
you can faintly see the eiffel tower!

    My only improvement would be…
    MAKE IT BACKWARDS AGAIN!
It was such a better ride then!

  7. A great runaway train coaster, and a good starter for anyone who’s a little scared of going upside down but wants to give it a go. It’s almost like a slightly faster Big Thunder Mountain that’s more suited for thrill-seekers, in my opinion it’s not quite as good as it’s missing my favourite part (no inside dark sections) and it’s over far too quickly but I’m a huge BTM fan so it’s hard reputation to live up to for me!

Definitely worth a go, and the overall setup/scenery is very nice. It bumps your head about a little, but nowhere near as much as Space Mountain; don’t lean forward, keep your head back on the headrest and you’ll fine.

  8. Indiana Jones is a brilliant little roller coaster. The queue line is huge but usually never full and at least is well themed. The ride is rather standard until it hits the loop as this brings so much G Force its amazing.

  9. Tucked away, but well worth it !

Hardly ever a queue, much better now it is going forwards again. It was fun going backwards, but it bashed your head around a lot and on a cold day that means for very painful ears ! Forwards however is great, good views over the park both during the day and at night.

Theming is great and loop really gets your stomach, neck, back ,you name it ! You might even get an ‘encore’ if it is sufficiently quiet. Give it a try. 9/10

  10. I often refer to this ride as the ‘Secret Coaster’ because most people never find it. The Indiana Jones ride in Adventureland was originally going to be a land in itself, but due to budget cuts it ended as a stand-alone ride. This means its kind of out-on-a-limb but is well worth to trek to try and find.

To rate all the rollercoasters I will be using the “Five F’s” and scoring out of five. The Five F’s are…

FEEMING – How well Themed the ride is to its surroundings – the ride “experience”…
FEATURES – How many rollercoaster features the ride has – drops, corkscrews etc…
FAST – Just how mind-bogglingly, earth-shatteringly fast the ride goes…
FEAR – Just how soul-destroyingly, pant-wettingly scary the ride is…
FUN – The over enjoyment of the ride…

    ——————————————————————————————-

    FEEMING (Theming)

Exploring Adventureland and its many rope bridges, caves and marvelous tree house you can very easily miss what it one of the best rides in the park.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is a traditional rollercoaster hidden the jungles to the north of Adventureland in the top-left corner of the park. From Adventureland its kinda hard to spot – all you can see is the top of a Mayan Pyramid poking out over the tops of the trees.

Once you follow a seemingly path-to-nowhere you find a mass of bamboo constructions and tents which really resemble an archaeological dig site. The area with its dusty jeeps and bazaars (selling snakes, guns and fedora hats) really has that Indiana Jones feel.

The ride itself is a runaway mine-train ride (in a similar vein to Big Thunder Mountain) but is a faster, more adult experience – flying around an old crumbling Mayan Ruin.

To get to the ruin you have to walk through a series of permanent switchbacks – but this means you have to walk past the beautifully crafted scenery. Piles of artefacts, jeeps, tents, all give the feeling you are walking through the set of an Indiana Jones movie – you half expect harrison Ford to walk by any minute.

You climb some old stone steps into the heart of the temple… and await your destiny!

    FEATURES

The Indiana Jones ride is the only Rollercoaster in Disneyland Resort that is completely outside. It has no tunnels or darkness or special lighting effects – this means the ride is a much more “traditional” experience.

The ride is made up of a series of mine-carts, but as the shoulder harness comes down you know this is going to be much more than Big Thunder Mountain.

The Mayan Ruin itself is a huge and very authenic looking construction and as such the ride climbs its massive heights with sharp corners and dramatic drops.

The main feature of the ride is a very fast and very tight 360 loop. This ride used to be a BACKWARDS rollercoaster but feel safe in the knowledge you can now see the loop coming!

    3 out of 5

    ——————————————————————————————-

    FAST

I’m not going to knock Big Thunder Mountain too much – I know I might’ve been a bit harsh in my review of this fan-favourite – but my main hang-up is that the ride is too slow and tame. Indiana Jones has all the scenery and twisting turns of Big Thunder Mountain but this time WITH SPEED!

The ride is a traditional coaster and as such has that old-fashioned chugga-chugga-chugga as you go around the track. This combined with speed and the loop makes for a much more satisfying experience!

    4 out of 5

    ——————————————————————————————

    FEAR AND FUN

As I mentioned, this ride is an outside coaster. That means you are normally riding in the daylight. This also means – much like Big Thunder Mountain – that you can see every twist and turn coming. Knowing when to brace yourself can take away a bit of the fear-factor but I can assure you – YOU WILL GET SCARED!

The peak and drops of this ride are often so tight that you are SURE you are going smash into the stone-work of the temple – the worst case for this is just before the loop, so you actually get a double-scare.

This is not a ride for kids!

The overall theme of the area its uber-authentic and it feels more like a movie set than just a “tagged-on” ride. Just the walk TO the ride is as much of an experience as the ride itself! By finding this lost treasure of a ride you feel like Dr Jones himself.

This ride is also a FastPass attraction but I have never actually had to queue more than 3-5 minutes for this ride – meaning re-rides are a no-brainer!

Discover it, ride it – love it!

    Fear – 4 out of 5

    Fun – 5 out of 5

  11. The first time i went on this ride it was went it went backwards and i was very unimpressed the only thing that made it slightly enjoyable was the nuns screamin behind us. So we didnt go on it for a few years just stayed clear of that area but one of my friends had never gone on it and wanted to try it so we reluctantly went on with here and where shocked to discover it was goin forwards its was so much better, faster and more exciting you should take the time to go check it out you can miss it as its tucked away.

  12. Indiana Jones…

Wow this is a fantastic ride, talk about gripping experience, my daughter and I went on this ride for the first time some years ago when we first started coming to Disney, and it went Backwards this was a shock but you just can’t see what’s going on, which can be bad to some points as you ain’t got a clue what is going on. But the year after we had the ride of our life on it… GOING FORWARDS, now that was fantastic.

I suggest everyone should try it at least once, just for the thrill, the only fault I could pick once you got on it was over so fast but it didn’t stop me and my daughter traipsing back round again to try it out again.

  13. When it was backwards, it was so much better, now, it’s good to ride at night, with the flames illuminating the ride.

    By Sil1994 on 9th July 2008

  14. This ride is very good. The onlookers view of the coaster makes it seem very scary, (IE. the drop where you are almost on your side). But in fact that is not the worst part. The ride gets far worse once you get past the loop as it is just a random roller coaster ride. You can never tell where you are going to go next. It is a great ride. 10 out of 10.

Another great aspect of it is there is hardly ever a long queue. The longest it exceeded when i was there in April 2007 was 40 or 50 minutes but would normally only last about 5 or 10 minutes. The queue was so short one day I was actually able to go on and off it continuously for about a half an hour!!

This ride is excellent and is Definitely a must ride!!

  15. This is absolutely the best themed ride in the whole parks. So much details around, we were amazed. Even if you have to stay in line, you have a plenty to see around, a lot of details to enjoy.

Ride itself, is very intense, but very short, unfortunately. Disney should consider option to manage somehow, two circle ride. I mean that ride should go twice the same route. This is very nice ride, we enjoyed twice in it, because there was not a line at all.

  16. I love this ride! The best time to go on it is at night. The theming is very good, and it is not too long not too short. Also, the queue is never very long. The only problems I have with it are:

    1. the head-banging; if you are a certain height or build, your head bangs quite violently against the headrest. This would’nt be a problem if the headrests were soft and comfy, like the Rock n Roller Coaster, but they’re not, so it hurts. My advice is to wear a hat and pull up your coat hood when on this ride, so you don’t get a headache.

    2. It doesn’t go backwards anymore!!! I understand that a forward moving ride will attract more guests than a backwards one, but the park already has Space Mountain, the Rock n Roller coaster and even Big Thunder Mountain that go forwards.
A backwards ride is definately more exciting. Even if they had it backwards every other year, I’d be happy….

  17. A very fun ride. The queue; well, there wasn’t any when we went in the middle of the day. We didn’t think it was too rough… just too short!

    By fayt19 on 5th June 2008

  18. Dressed up mad mouse coaster, only worth it with a fastpass or a 5 minute wait.

  19. Very nice ride with a good themed waiting area. Nice view over the resort from the top. Unfortunately the ride is way too short…

  20. A nice little “filler” ride.
The queue is usually non existent, no need to get a fastpass.
The ride itself is rough, the roughest in the park. Not one for those who don’t want to be shaken about.
Not much themeing, but there is a great view over the park from the top. The ride doesn’t last very long, about 1.40minutes. Shame!

An average ride, was much better backwards!

  21. My wife continues to remind me that she did this ride when it went backwards (Why not a pin “I did it backwards on Indiana Jones” or similar) but I did it forwards. It is bumpy and lumpy and I even banged my head on the front of the carriage as I was leaning forward when we went into the loop.

Over far too quickly but it does give some interesting views at times. Could be better if there were some tunnels with special effects etc.

    Good for the thrill junky.

  22. This ride originally went backwards but after disney realised that more people would go on the ride if it went forwards, disney then decided to make it go forwards again. Personally i don’t like this ride, yeah it’s quite cool the way its designed but it’s just SOOO bumpy you can feel your brain rattling around in your head as your head keeps hitting the head rests.

  23. Love it love it love it, I’ll go on it 7 times in a row and still want more! But I wish it would go backwards again!

  24. Went on this years ago when it went backwards! I didn’t know this until i got on and it started moving!! I was in for a shock!

Went on recently and it went forwards, which was nowhere near as good as when it went backwards. Drops are very fast, also a loop. Much fun but quite hidden in the park itself.

  25. If you want a really big buzz this is a must. But if you have a weak consitution, then think twice before going on this ride. It left me very queazy and not at all well.

P.S. don’t forget your comb or hair brush for afterwards. :-i

  26. This is a great unique attraction to Disneyland Resort Paris. The themeing as you walk through the queue and even when you’re on the ride. Best time to ride at night as queues go down and the lighting effects look great !

By Owain on 3rd November 2007

  27. The theming is marvellous, and the ride is thrilling, with numerous peaks and troughs, making it very fun to ride. While it may have been the first disney coaster with a loop, it is still more than capable of enteraining and terrifying even hardened coaster enthusiasts.

That said, the coaster is seriously overshadowed by all of the other coasters in the park, and seems far too small to warrent such a large area of Adventure land that is dedicated to it. The coaster has clearly been a victim of the park’s teething troubles and when compared to the imagineers’ original plans for the area, you can’t help but feel disappointed.

Another probem i have with this ride, is that it is seriously panful to ride; the fast paced, tight cornered track design, and the unforgiving head rests mean that after riding the ride once, you either suffer from a severe headache, putting you off riding it ever again, or spend the subsequent rides trying to find ways to brace yourself to avoid smashing your head on something. This is a shame, as without the pain element, it would be great.

By davidrsykes on 1st November 2007

  28. Great ride. Definitely not on caliber with the on in Anaheim, but a fun coaster! For first time coaster goers this one is far less intense than Space,Rockin or even Crush. Fun for most children, teenagers and adults. The theming is great but really wished that the ride was a bit longer.

By mousemickey on 25th October 2007

  29. Indiana Jones is a nicely themed roller coaster, every time I went to Disney this was one of my favorite attractions. The ride is a bit rough but that’s a plus for me, I don’t want a smooth India coaster. I think the roughness and noise are an essential part of the ‘Indiana feeling’.

    By Pr1me on 17th October 2007

  30. This roller coaster attraction was shoehorned into Disneyland Parc to provide some thrills and it shows. Although the temple looks impressive, you never actually go inside. Instead, the big clunky mine cars just skirt around the outside of the temple. The roller coaster itself is fairly thrilling, especially as it now runs forwards (for a while the cars were turned backwards.) It’s not to rough although the constant twisting and turning towards the end may nauseate some guests. The Indiana Jones theme is minimal, Indy himself makes no appearance in the attraction.

This attraction never attracts much of a line, perhaps due to its out of the way location or because it looks to intense for most guests. I wouldn’t wait longer than 20 minutes for a ride – if the line is long, try picking up a FASTPASS.

As a roller coaster this attraction is moderately intense. It does feature a small and fast loop, and a few sharp drops. You can’t really see most of the ride until you’re on it, so you may want to ride first before letting more nervous kids ride.

  31. Tucked away in the corner of Adventureland is one of my favourite rides in DLRP. The theming, especially thorughout the queue is really interesting and makes you feel like you’re actually taking a trip to a jungle temple! The ride itself is also really good, with the traditional uphill climb followed by drops and sharp turns, culminating in a loop in front of the queue full of excited explorers! This isn’t one of the smoothest roller coasters and can be a tad shakey especially through the loop, but hold on tight and you’ll be fine! This is one of my favourite coasters in the parks and definately a good way to experience your first inversion!

Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril

Roller coaster with drops and turns around a cursed temple, 1 inversion.
