  1. Oh boy where do I begin!!!

I do LOVE this ride, however every time I visit I feel I need to get myself prepared for it in a sense! It does scare me, but rides are supposed to right?!?!

I won’t lie, I scream my head off to this, but that didn’t stop me riding it four times this trip! Not one for those scared of heights, but very entertaining!

Absolutely great to ride at night – If you can keep your eyes open!

    Brilliant ride.

  2. This was a Great Ride and Very Smooth and Simple. If you are scared of Rides: This is Great for you… XD…If your Scared of Ghosts: Maybe not…!

It has a Great theme which sends Thrills and Shivers down your Spine, with the utter Terror knowing that the Ride is going to End! It’s short but well worth it. It’s also a Great Photo Opportunity. “Hands Up and Une, Deux, Trois: Say Fromagé!”

    Great for Thrill Seakers!

  3. This attraction is the best themed in the Walt Disney Studios Park. The hotel is beautifully designed and realistic. The cast members are wonderful and really add to the creepy atmosphere. The queue wasn’t long (around 30mins) when I visited in early August 2009 and well worth the wait.

The storyline is brilliant and i was truly scared before getting on the ride. I was not disappointed! It was wonderful! The best view of the park. Also, the photo is very good to buy after the ride. A MUST do attraction for anyone!

  4. What can I say? Wow! This ride had me laughing before I went on, and laughing when I came off.

The excellent cast members were very in character from the beginning till the end , making the whole experience even more exiting (Maybe not for my friend when she was snuck up on by a devilish bellman.) We used the fast pass track both times we went on the ride, cutting the waiting time hugely! The haunting theming was excellent, and only made me more exited and nervous to get on the ride.

When we originally entered the elevator we were shocked to find only seat belts to hold us in. Our bellman grabbed the chance to scare us further telling me to hold my friend in, as there was a huge hole in the cage above her! Now shaking with nerves, and clinging to my friend for dear life the ride started.

I don’t want to give too much away from now, but I will say that it was one of thee best rides in both of the Disney parks. I don’t know if I would recommend it for very young kids that might just pass the height limit, as I can say at points I was honestly scared, and I’m 17. But for teens and adults it’s a must try! :)

  5. I absolutely love this ride. I have been on it countless times and it is still amazing. The themeing is great and the whole ride experience is great aswell.

Personally apart from the actual ride itself I think what makes it so fantastic are the cast members. While i was at Disney i met a number of outstanding cast members on Tower Of Terror.

I remeber one cast member was called Jeremy and he was fantastic when he was boarding us in the lift and when we were about to get out he crawled along the floor to the lift and then pretended to pull him self up as though he had being clinging onto the outside of the lift the whole time. It was very unexpected as we all thought he would jump out on us. Another outstanding cast member was Kevin.

On the last day i was there i wanted to go on Tower of Terror one last time so i went to the studio’s park and i was the first person in the queue for the ride. So he started talking to me and my sister and he was really funny. Then a baby came along on reins and he asked its parents “what type of dog is this” and the babies parents look horrified and then he said “no dogs allowed into the hotel”. It was very funny. Then i asked him if i could try on his hat but he said no but he let me try on his gloves and then he got my sister to take a photo of me and him together wearing the gloves. Then he was giving other people really odd looks and they were very creeped out by him. He stayed in character the whole time i was with him. Then I saw him again later that day and he recognized me and said ” You’re back again!” And then he introduced us to his fellow cast members.

Before we left i nominated bother of them to be Outstanding Cast Members and i am sure alot of other people will aswell.

Overall Tower Of Terror is definitely one of the best rides at Disneyland Paris and i would recomend it to anyone who wants an amazing thrill.

    Fantastic Ride.

  6. WOW! I loved this ride to bits. The atmosphere and the staff were great, especially as one jumped out on my mum and she had the fright of her life!

I was slightly nervous at first, however after riding I wanted to go on again and again! The feeling when you drop and your belly bubbles and you bounce slightly off the seat is amazing! Definitely a must ride attraction!

By xEmziix on 1st August 2009

  7. This ride was amazing! But definitely not for people who are afraid of ghosts, have a queasy stomach and who are afraid of heights. The way the theme is set is just brilliant it really gets you excited but really scared at the same time.

The one in paris was much better than the one in florida it is much longer well it seemed it anyway. The first time I went on it I didn’t realise that you had to hold on to the handle bar next to you and I was flying everywhere – so for all of you that are reading this and want to go on this ride HOLD ONTO THE HANDLE BARS!

When I went everyone was either at the parade or stunt show so it was literally empty me and my dad went on it 6 times in a row and the more times you go on it the more you notice the first time i went on it I was just scared of the ghosts but the second time I went on it I just concentrated on the story and the drops of cause.

Well I would recommend this ride to children over the age of seven or eight and to adults of all ages! My Rating 10/10!

  8. This is THE major ride in WDS, terrific setting, the hotel seems never heve been dusted for the last 60 years when lightning striked it, it’ spooky but not really frightening , some CMs take the opportunity to give you goose bumps …

Welcome to your own Twilight Zone episode … Enjoy while you’re still alive …

By PhilippeP on 30th July 2009

  9. What a great ride! It really looks like an old hotel in Hollywood.

The ride itself features very nice narration.

I never have to wait longer than 20 minutes to get into the elevator.

By mafju on 6th July 2009

  10. Unreal!!! I think this one is better than the WDW Tower of Terror. Definitely one of if not my favourite ride in both parks! I’m 13 and I love it but every time my dad goes on (which I make him do) he comes of green lol! I actually find the scenery and all scarier than the ride itself!

    By tinkerbell09 on 5th July 2009

  11. Normaly I´m paniced when something is very high ( I`m afraid of big height), so I wasn´t sure if I should go into the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

I saw the extraordinnaire establishment! This attraction was been built with so much love and inventiveness!! Even the outdoor queue area is amazing! When you get there you completly drop into the story and the atmosphere. When I got into one of the elevators the panic returns! I felt very unsafe at the first moment ( only a seat belt). But the ride continues and the exiting feelings came back. I never thought about the belts again because I recognized that they ARE SAFE.

This ride impressed me so much that I rode it two to three times every morning during my four day stay.

All in all The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror is one of my favourite rides at the whole Disneyland Resort Paris. If you miss it you miss one of the greatest rides in your life.

  12. A terrifying and exhilirating experience! Keep in mind that this is still just a vertical drop ride, though slightly more interesting with the theming. It dropped more times than I was expecting it to, and the last one passed into slighty uncomfortable feeling rather than exciting, but I’m not the biggest of thrill-seekers. We were lucky enough to queue for only 10-15mins (though it was listed as 5mins), I wouldn’t queue for much longer, and it’s not one I’d do again in the same trip. Once is enough!

What made this ride for me was the bellhop we had – he was brilliant! Cheeky little smirks, staring down at you as you entered the lift. Even when a little boy was making a lot of noise and repeating things he was saying he kept his cool, stayed in character and gave the kid the most amusing disapproving stare, much to his delight!

By Janine on 1st June 2009

  13. Unsafe! That’s the first word that comes to my mind when i remember my passage by the Tower of Terror. Beaware, when you’re going up and down the elevator you’ll feel very unsafe with only a belt arond your waist?! (like the planes) DO NOT ride with CHILDREN under the age of 10 because it will be VERY SCARY for them. I went on it one time and i’ll never go back! The theming is good but the staff ruins everything because they are talking to each other and smiling all the time… In the end, if you’re an adult, you should try it anyway because it’s quite an experience…

    By miguel1974 on 22nd April 2009

  14. This ride is quite incredible – you have no idea whether you are going up or down! The cast mements here are excellant and very in character! Probably the best ‘in character’ cast members in the whole park!
The waiting area is quite extraordinary and brillaintly detailed. Especially the Boiler room!
All the narration on this ride is in English.

By kmacleod on 12th April 2009

  15. This one is really thrilling, everyone (in good health that is) should experience the Tower of Terror! The decor is stunning and it really has something mysterious. The staff play their roles very well too, which adds to the excitement, haha..

By skurvy on 11th April 2009

  16. This well themed thrilling ride is a must for any visit to the Studios. The fun starts in the detailed lobby and library of the Hollywood Tower hotel, with little details to look out for including some nice nods to the Twilight Zone TV show. After passing through a spookily lit boiler room that is bound to freak out any kids who weren’t sure about riding beforehand, it’s on to the main ride itself.

To call Tower of Terror a drop ride is an injustice, there is much more to the experience than just the drops. The special effect set pieces before the plummet are great, highly atmospheric and use state of the art technology. The drops themselves are definitely more fun than scary, providing what can only be described as a “whoooaaaa” feeling in your stomach!

It’s all over very quickly unfortunately (or fortunately for those not enjoying the ride.) The exit and gift shop again some have humorous references to the Twilight Zone TV show and are worth a peek. Everybody who can ride should experience this unique attraction.

  17. I had been extremely excited about the tower of terror, having seen it progress in its construction a year before it opened. First day in the park, I managed to barge through the queue into the first group and once I got onto it, I realised what I had been waiting on… it was amazing. Definitely worth the wait…

    By weesam20 on 19th February 2009

  18. I’ve been on the Tower of Terror at the California and Florida parks as well as at Paris. Even though the WDW version in my eyes is the best, the rides at both California and Paris are still amazing in every way.

By Vegitabeta on 19th February 2009

  19. We did it 3 times a day! The cast members are very good actors, the sensations are thrilling and the ambience is so good thanks to the music and the incredible beauty of the Hollywood Tower itself!

    By eleo80 on 19th February 2009

  20. Rode this ride last august. (2008).
I wasn’t going to as I hate heights and I’m scared to death of lifts. We used fastpass for this one, but ended up waiting 1/12 hrs to ride. Wasn’t really worth it in my opinion but the other queue was insane.

I was scared to death. Till I got on the lift. I must admit you get pretty scared but watching the elevator. I felt like I was facing death head on. The ride was sort of okay at first but I wasn’t expecting those sudden drops in the middle of the ride.

That freaked me out well enough to not ride it again… or maybe not. Tower of terror here I come again :)

By zipped on 13th February 2009

  21. I visited Disneyland Paris over the new year. My son and I queued for an hour for the Tower of Terror, he does not like lifts and I am scared of heights. I was dreading it.

You go into the lounge of a 1930’s hotel, everything from the massive fireplace to the tea trolly is covered in cobwebs. You are taken through to a room where you watch a video on the twilight zone. After a short queue you enter an elevator, where you sit in rows of four, strapped in with a lap belt. The doors close, the elevator goes backwards then you plummet several times, go back up and plummet again.

At the top the doors open twice to reveal a fantastic view over disney studios. A truly exhilarating experience not to be missed.

  22. My family and I are going back to DLRP this monday and the 1 attraction we all cant wait for is the new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

We visited Disneyland 3 times before but this ride was only open the last time which was last February and there was always a big queue so that’s why we have booked a more quiet time to go because we didn’t want to queue up for so long for this greatly themed attraction.

But don’t get me wrong if you do happen to go in a peak season do queue up in the line for this attraction because the wait is so worth it because this elevator ride of your life!!

By dalys on 1st January 2009

  23. I have just returned from my 9th visit to DLRP and have been waiting for what seems like ages to try this ride, (it hadn’t yet opened on my last visit) although I must admit I was a little apprehensive.

The theming of the hotel is superb and as mentioned in previous reviews the Cast Members are terrific and really add to the enjoyment of the Tower of Terror. The ride wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be and I have to say I LOVED IT!!!!!!!

You do leave your seat as you drop down, thank goodness for the seat belts!!! Absolutely brilliant, don’t visit the Studios and not try it, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve never ridden a vertical drop ride before, it’s good to experience something different from a roller coaster (although I love these too).

By junglebaggie on 4th December 2008

  24. The most perfect ride i’ve ever done in an amusement park! best of the best; Great theming, real thrill, i was speechless when i got off it. Just one more word to say: wow!

    By nemo1981 on 1st December 2008

  25. This is one crazy ride, not for the faint hearted. It is incredible and you feel like you are being lifted out of your seat. The view from the top is incredible, just be prepared to be scared!!

By nattynoo on 19th November 2008

  26. I love it!!

I am scared of heights and not so confident with elevators either so I thought it would had been an horrible experience to me but it actually was FANTASTIC!!

The only down I can think about is that it just lasts so little, less than one minute ride after you have been queueing for one hour is a very short time!!!

    By giuly09 on 5th November 2008

  27. The ride is amazing but one thing makes this stand out from any other attraction on property….the Cast Members.

Practically to a man/woman, they are involved in the theme and experience and to people like David and Alba – I salute you!

By Bopshop on 26th September 2008

  28. Good theming and storyline makes it a very entertaining ride.

Perhaps not as bad as it looks though, and maybe the drop could be just a little bit faster……

On the whole great ride and the best in the Studios.

Tip: Go on it during the Winter, because the studios only closes at 7 so should be dark around then. The park will look good lit up.

    By smm2fan on 13th September 2008

  29. Oh My God! Amazing ride! The best ride in the resort (coasters not included).

I also think that people should have two ways: one that goes through french elevators, and another one that goes through english elevators, so people can choose the language.

Anyway, even if you don’t understand French, you get scared. On my second ride, the cast member was amazing! He stopped watching at us, with a funny and scary face, and did not said anything! We all started laughing and then he left the elevator, and returned, seconds later, wishing us a “Bon voyage”, without all the “seat belts checks”.

And that’s true, there are not two equal voyages, all of them are different, which is amazing!

    By Sil1994 on 7th September 2008

  30. Sorry -liammackessy- but your 3. point it’s not true. I have my TOT photo with only me – my sis – my boyfriend. you can enlarge your person and put it on the frame. it’s really nice too ^_^

    __

I really love this attraction, probably the best in the whole WDS.

By countingstars on 29th August 2008

  31. I don’t know how to describe this ride, its fun and scary at the same time.

Like the person below me said, all the cast members were fantastic, but found the men quite funny. It’s also quite a tricky ride for those who don’t know how the lift works, you are in for a great surprise.

By zipped on 19th August 2008

  32. Just one word about this ride: AWESOME!!!!!

By Crabounet on 13th August 2008

  33. Oh My God. I love this ride. It is so awesome. Starting with the queue, it’s actually not that bad… it moves really fast and once you get past the main doors of the hotel you’re almost on the ride, you just have to get into the library. If you get a fast pass, you get into the library straight away… and is well worth using your fast pass on.

The cast members are fantastic. However, some of them could be a lot better (mostly the women) . The Men, are so scary, and you just can’t help but laugh at them. The Ride itself is wonderful. When they say “Gravity Defying” They really mean it!!! You come up out of your seat, It’s a lucky thing they make you wear a seatbelt. lol.

I have given this ride 10 out of 10. but unfortunately it has it’s down points.

    1) If you go on this ride a lot you have to go into the library every time and watch the television, and if you go on it as much as I did. You get kind of tired of it. Although, it is fantastically put together it gets kind of boring after a while!

    2) Nearly every ride is in French. I had to ask one of the cast members to play it in English and he kindly did. It was played in English only twice in my 12 times going on it. And if you can’t understand the French, you really are missing out on quite a lot.

Finally 3) The photo on this ride is taken with everyone else who’s in the elevator with you. Which is a bit of a down side. Who wants to look at their souvenir and see 20 more people they don’t even know in it. I know it would be really hard to take individual pictures. But they could at least take pictures of sections of the elevator.

I still love the ride, apart from those 3 points I mentioned above!

By liammackessy on 24th July 2008

  34. One of the best attraction I’ve ever done… The Special Effects, the fall and the Cast Members are awesome!

By Nights on 20th July 2008

  35. Thank god WDS has this attraction!

It’s wonderfully scary. I really love the story behind this hotel. Not talking ’bout the fall. Really exciting.

By countingstars on 9th July 2008

  36. This ride is awesome. I really like it. Effects and outside look of this attraction are scary but attraction as attraction is awesome. Once when you step into the elevator, there’s no coming back. The fear is getting into your bones.

When I stepped into the elevator I was really afraid. Hotel from inside is very dusty and scary, too. If you are interested about adventure and fear you should take a look into this hotel. This attraction is a good but scary experience. I really like it, it’s one of my favorite attractions. I love it.

    By indianafan11 on 17th June 2008

  37. This ride is absolutely incredible! the theming is awesome (though the outside doesn’t bare up to close inspection as well as i’d hope- it is a bit bland in parts, particularly around the outside queue area, though this will probably look far better once the building ages naturally and the gardens become genuinely overgrown). The inside of the hotel, particularly the boiler room area, is phenomenal and makes use of some very impressive lighting and sound effects.

The pre-ride areas add so much to the ride experience as it builds up tension and apprehension perfectly (you are still nervous even after the 5 rides). The first time you ride is terrifying and to be honest the least you know about the ride itself the better (for good reasons) so as to preserve this anxiety and fear of entering into ‘la quatrieme dimension’.

The ride itself toys with the rider expertly; it builds up tension, creates a fantastic mystery, displays beautiful special effects and always catches you off guard before the drop.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is exceptional and HAS to be ridden- even my 50 yr old parents loved it (despite being terrified before hand). This is because the ride itself is not as intense as other rides in the resort (which can rattle your head around), it is just scary, surprising, impressive and an insane amount of fun which will have you screaming, and then laughing your head off until you exit the ride with quaking knees.

An absolutely perfect ride that shows why Disneyland Resort Paris is the greatest holiday destination in Europe (if not the world)- go there, and ride it.

By davidrsykes on 16th May 2008

  38. It looks great from what I have seen (Exterior) and the attention to detail is second to none.

Unfortunatly, due to my impairment, I was unable to ride. Despite this, I would recommend Crush to anyone who enjoys a thrilling ride while experiencing a truly magicly atmosphere!

By DUDZROC on 6th May 2008

  39. Amazing!!

I love this ride so much, i rode it 11 times this trip but would happily have spent an entire day on it! I love the ‘air time’ feeling, the theming, the atmosphere and one of the best bits, the creepy cast members especially Michel who just made it extra special.

I rode it in every shaft, both libraries and alot of the time it was in English, one of the times the cast member was flirting with me while we were waiting to go into the lift, when we were seated in the lift he asked who spoke English there were only me and my mum and dad but he said ok then in English and proceeded to do the whole speech bit in English and ran the drop in English. I have to say though that while the male cast members were excellent at being spooky and creepy especially Michel and the flirty one, the female cast members were rubbish too much smiling and well just lame. A spooky cast member makes all the difference!

By SparrowsGirl on 23rd March 2008

  40. LOOOOOVED IT!!!!!

I was a bit nervous before going on, but came off wanting more!! The Cast Members really get into the action and like to creep up on you and try to scare you. They got me a few times, but its all part of the fun!

The queue time is deceptive- it tells you the time it takes to get into the first part of the ride…The Library. Once you get out of the Library you are in another queue to get to the lift so be aware that what it says outside is not always true. The fastpass will only allow you to jump the first bit of the queue, after the Library you will have to join with everyone else to wait for the lift.

The first time I went on the main drop is IMMENSE, but as you go on more and more its not as bad. I loved the theming and aswell as the drops the first part in the lift is also very clever!!

A MUST DO, DO NOT GO HOME WITHOUT RIDING IT!

By iwerksdisney on 15th March 2008

  41. Thrilling!!! Have done Tower of Terror in WDW but still managed to be surprised by the Paris version. I think it is better, wonderfully done. The queues are a bit slow, but the FP queue goes pretty much straight in to the library. The views are terrific. Even the shop is good. Can’t wait to get back on it again!!

By bivvy on 14th March 2008

  42. This is a great ride! The Queues were never too long, about 10 minutes was the maximum (only when Crush was down did the queue grow to 30 mins!) However, the Florida tower remains my favourite as once you have been on a few times you know the sequence of drops! Still an awesome ride!!!

    By cHarrington87 on 14th March 2008

  43. Just came back from Disneyland Paris, and on the last day out of 3, I went on this ride and loved it, came off with a big smile on my face.

It was the most exciting and smoothest ride I have been on, day and night the The Hollywood Tower looks fantastic.

    By Matty2k0 on 8th March 2008

  44. This is the best ride EVER!!!!!! I loved it! Space mountain was top on my list but now second as The twilight Zone Tower Of Terror has zoomed up the list!

The scary bit is going down. The ride goes as fast as gravity and when you’re falling down, your bum comes off the seat! Be sure to look happy or terrified all the way through because the photo comes in a surprising place! I loved it, my mum, my dad, my sis loved it. My brother is 4 so he hated it. He said…”I hate it and I never ever want to go on it again!” We kept asking him what his worst ride was and he declared, “THE UP AND DOWN RIDE I TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE!!!!!” This means don’t take a 1-4 on this ride.

He liked the part when you go up but not when you go down. He went on it twice. He’s so brave!

By Caroline on 19th February 2008

  45. Brilliant, Fantastic, Terrific! An absolute MUST DO! We practically walked onto it on our first day (Thursday afternoon) and also on our second day (10am on Friday) but on our last day there was a 45 minute wait! Needless to say we were just trying to get our last few rides in before departing and just didn’t have the time to wait.

Saying that, we don’t tend to queue longer than 25 – 30 minutes for a ride anyway. But, this is fantastic. So, if you only have one chance to do it, the wait would be worth it!

By princessj on 10th February 2008

  46. This is a great ride and the suspense of when its going to drop is great. Disney has done itself proud with this version of ToT.

    By littlemermaid83 on 3rd February 2008

  47. This ride I wicked! I was terrified to go on it at first but I did go on it and found it fantastic. I think its good that Disneyland Paris has put in another thrilling ride!!

    By disneybabygirl92 on 1st February 2008

  48. I really do like this ride. I didn’t think it was as good as the Orlando version but nevertheless still a good ride. Very thrilling and enjoyable.

By worldmind on 27th January 2008

  49. I went on this ride one week ago. I was relaxed, because i thought that the ride wasn’t very thrill. But WOW, the chutes were excellent, and all the ride was better than my expectations !!! This is a great ride for the park, i think that it will be the number one in the park.

By manakin on 15th January 2008

  50. This ride was excellent, but I agree with the previous person, the height limit is 1.2m, which means I could have taken my 4 yr old-glad I didn’t! I think I managed to screma louder than she would have done though!!!

By Newyearbaby on 5th January 2008

  51. Wow, I was really impressed by this thrill ride.

It definitely lived up to my expectations! Not only is the thrill itself is wonderful, but the pre-show, the queues and the surrounding theme is all superb!

One note though, don’t ride with kids who are easily scared (even if the height restriction is only 1.02 m), the drops are quite sudden….

The best the Studio’s has to offer right now… 9/10

    By milo_vhw on 3rd January 2008

  52. Iv’e been on it 4 times during the dreampass previews and i have to say this ride is superb a definit 10/10, this is by far one of the best Disney rides ever :) Can’t wait to ride it again soon.

    By Mehdi5 on 27th December 2007

  53. Not sure where to begin, really…
The ASTONISHING view as you exit Studio 1 and walk right up to this enourmous building, the EXTREMELY detailed surrounding area, the GREAT area music as you reach the entrance… It all adds up to the perfect setting for your visit to the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Then, as you enter the queue area and start noticing even more detail, it’s incredible to believe that this is just the beginning of a great experience…

Enter the lobby, try and close your jaw that just dropped out of excitement for this great entrance to the hotel, and meet the first of many greatly performing castmembers that are inviting you to the library…

In the library, you are introduced to the story of the hotel, and this is what makes the disney difference! The story is awesome, and adds so much more to a ride than a regular free fall tower could ever be! Just as you thought the themeing could impossibly get any better than what you just witnessed in the library, you are entering the boiler room. Its grandeur together with the superb themeing and great lightning and sound effects simply are astonishing!

Queue a little longer, and a cast member will kindly ask you to enter your service elevator. It must be said that they way they board is done EXTREMELY good, and in this case, the cast members really are making a difference by making everything go in an orderly fashion, and giving you an experience that really makes this ride even better than it already is without their performance!!!

The rest of the ride is something you really should experience yourself… The show is absolutely fantastic, the effects brilliant, and the drop, well ermm… scary to some people ;)

Just one word of advise: don’t think you aren’t up to it, as the drop in itself seems a lot scarier than it actually is, and most people will survive, really ;)

I would have rated this 12/10, but unfortunately, a ten is the best I can do! It’s just plain and simply the best ride in Paris at this moment!!!

    I still can’t believe it’s there, and I still can’t believe it’s THAT good!!!

    Well done, Disney!

  54. Thanks to DLRP Magic, we two HappyHoppies from Finland got the news of the special Annual Pass TOT “test runs” only a night before our trip to Paris! I didn’t want to jinx our incredible luck, so I didn’t wait the Saturday of December the 15th too eagerly. However, as we visited the Studios park on Friday the 14th, the Tower had opened for a few hours to regular park guests — and in we went, up the elevator and came down happily screaming! And the following day, thanks to our Annual Passes, we got to ride it again for three magnificent times.

In the summer of 2002 one of my long-time dreams came finally true: After ten years’ absence, I finally returned to Walt Disney World in Florida and got to ride their original Tower of Terror six times in a row, with a very small crowd of other guests. I fell instantly in love with the WDW version (at the Disney-MGM Studios) for its superb technical aspects, most importantly the breathtaking “Fifth Dimension” sequence where the elevator breaks away from its shaft and enters another one at the end of the corridor. Another thing that I loved in the WDW version, was the famous Twilight Zone “door” twisting and turning amongst the sea of stars.

Compared to this newest Tower at Disneyland Paris, the WDW original still holds the first place in my heart – but the enchantment and the excitement is still intact in the Paris version. The first drop definitely gets more shock value following immediately the beautiful sea of stars. The replacement of safety bars with seatbelts makes the drops seem more shocking than in the WDW version. The bellhops are impressively “in-character” with their devilish grins. My only complaint is that the exquisitely-done original “Rod Serling” narration is dubbed in French — and even if the preshow narration can be heard in the original English some way, I doubt that the elevator ride can be experienced only in French. (??)

Even though I miss the stark spell of the WDW original, this Paris Tower of Terror is definitely an “E-Ticket” Adventure – and it it will undoubtedly delight and spellbind all sorts of guests!

Here is a quite unusual souvenir photo of my third drop at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disneyland Resort Paris:

  55. I’ve just come back from DLRP and was lucky enough to be able to get on the TOT (3 times) as they opened it to the public for “test runs”.

It’s superb! The special effects are amazing and very sleek, and the view over the Parks is breathtaking.

The best version of the ride Disney have built so far.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

NEW – NOW OPEN!

Thrilling vertical drop ride with immersive themeing and special effects scenes.

Over 10 years ago, five people stepped through the doors of the elevator in The Hollywood Tower Hotel never to be seen again. Now, in Hollywood at the height of the fabulous 1950s, those doors are opening once again… but this time, they’re opening for YOU.
