We stayed at the Davy Crockett resort in Feb 2008 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are a family of 6 so value for money was important.
We were pleasantly surprised, the cabin was very clean and well maintained. We were very close to the village which was very useful. the pool area was very good and the shop was full of tempting Disney merchandise. The breakfast was good and enough for all of us.
Driving to the parks was fine but the walk from the car park is quite a trek, particularly on way out with a tired 5 year old!
Would definitely return and recommend for large families.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel with our three children in June 2008 and, even though we were being cheap and only got a one bedroom cabin, we still found we had plenty of room even if we didn’t fold up the sofa bed everyday. Idle, us? Never!! The breakfast is a great idea as you get to take it back to your cabin (or shed – as my 3 year old called it) so there is never a long queue or wait to eat. Also the breakfasts were plentiful and we often had enough bread and croissants etc. left to make dinner out of that evening. In fact they gave us so many cartons of millk and oranje juice that we ended up bringing some home!!
The pool is fantastic and the village is lots of fun for kids as there is lots to do. The shop is limited for non-disney merchandise and is quite expensive for everything but then so is pretty much everything in disneyland.
Our cabin wasn’t exactly luxury and wouldn’t win any prizes for decor (there was some wallpaper missing from the bathroom and a handle missing from the cupboard) but for the reasonable price we paid I thought it was ok. The kids loved the exictement of staying in a forest setting and it was nice not constantly shushing them since their were no neighbours joined on who could be upset by loud antics. Tv in English is limited – just news and disney channel – and it would have been nicer for the little ones if they had playhouse disney for the cartoons but you don’t come to disneyland to watch tv and we had portable dvd players with us anyway as we’d needed them to keep peace on the mighty commutes to and from ferry ports.
The main bad point is the lack of disney transport – it would be preferable if they just stuck an extra 150 pounds on the price and ran buses. I find it unfair that families of more than four are limited to only this and the very very expensive disneyland hotel if they all want to share the same room. For a family orientated company this does seem to be a bit of a slip up on the part of disney.
Overall, however, this is an ok hotel and we would stay here again if petrol prices ever stop being extortionate! That said, it is cheaper overall for us fly, and to sacrifice a pool and get two rooms in one of the budget hotels which is what we have planned for our next trip to the resort.

We were meant to stay here for one night on 28th Feb 2008. Being as we only had 2 days and one night, we arrived at the Park early and didn’t check in until about 8.30pm that night.
Now, bearing in mind that we were fully aware that we’d taken the cheapest option for the 4 of us (2 couples), we weren’t expecting the lap of luxury. However, we expected at least the Disney standards to be upheld – cleanliness, great customer service, that sort of thing.
We checked in, and were greeted warmly and efficiently, then were directed to our ‘cabin’. Driving up in the dark, everything looked fine, basic but serviceable. However, when we opened the door and stepped inside, we were horrified. The place was filthy. There had been leaves and mud tramped through the main room, where the light was non functioning, it looked as though someone had been ripping up paper and throwing it around the bedroom, and the bath had long black smears along the inside. There was a filthy, wet sponge on top of one of the electric heaters, and the hob had splashes which looked like a tomato based sauce, but I was not brave enough to try and find out.
I’m not averse to a bit of cleaning in my own home, I’ll clean someone else’s if needs be, but given that we were paying £80 for the priviledge of staying in this place, none of us were happy. I picked up the phone to call reception, and found it was not working either, so we went to the communal area (had to pick up our day’s purchases from the store anyway) and requested a phone. The shop assistant was very helpful, and most apologetic when I told him the problem, and I thought I would recieve the same treatment from the reception.
No such luck. The person I spoke to was abrupt to the point of rudeness (now, bearing in mind I was tired and annoyed, I was actually being exceedingly polite!), told me there was nothing he would do, and when I asked how much it would cost to change to a different hotel he said he did not know. He said if we didn’t want to stay we could bring the keys back, but we would not be refunded. And this was an ENGLISH person, so the language barrier was not even an issue!
With the help of the shop assistant, I rang around the Cheyenne and the Santa Fe (both full), before being offered a room (2 double beds) for a supplement at the Sequoia. Suffice to say, we accepted, and dashed off to reception to hand in the keys to the ‘cabin’, where we were offered no apology for either the state of the place or for the rudeness I was faced with on the phone.
Suffice to say, that was the first and will be the last time I ever set foot in the Davy Crockett Ranch again, which seems a shame, because others have enjoyed it so much.

Staying at the Davy Crockett ranch twice, i can say its great if you are a family after the disney experience, the shop has most the things you need, but is mostly merchandise. as can be expected.
The “Cabins” are a good size with comfy beds, the chairs and sofa can get a little uncomfortable if you are around for a while, but you have a TV and if you take a laptop you can plug it into the TV and play a DVD or something. The kitchen has all the basics, we found our selfs using the BBQ outside alot and buying food from the nearby supermarket, i would recommend going in the summer as the winter it may get a little cold and the electric radiators gather a bit of dust.
Getting to the village/main area can be a bit of a walk if you are close to the entrance but there is alot of little adventurous trails you can go down and do little challenges along the way if you please

As we’re a family of 6, we’ve stayed here 6 times over the last few years. When it’s good, it’s great! However, it’s largely dependent on the quality of your cabin. At their worst, they are very dirty, damp and smelly, with wall paper hanging from the walls and mold growing on the window sills, etc. Our last experience was so bad, that we subsequently complained, and have been given a free holiday. My advise would be to complain immediately if it’s below standard, and ask to be moved.
Otherwise, tight changing rooms aside, the pool is fantastic (although you will sometimes find the slide, spa, and waterfall, etc. closed for no obvious reason). The shop is a little expensive, but handy, and the restaurant food is great. They have free archery lessons which the kids loved, and there is generally a good atmosphere during the evenings with disney characters, visiting Indians who paint faces, etc. If you’re brave (and fit!), the tree tops adventure at the Ranch entrance is a must do.

We stayed 5 nights & 6 days. The accommodation is excellent. With 3 children we had a 2 bedroom chalet. It was fine and warm (though the tv had awful reception). In the village is a good supplies store, a western bar, restaurant and an absolutely fabulous pool – an adventure in itself. Being a drive away from the Park meant that we could take a real break at the end of each day. The food is fine, and the ambiance really western style. Live bands most evenings, many are Country & Western, in keeping with the resort.
Plenty of characters visit in the evening, with Goofy and Donald giving line dancing lessons in the village centre. Lots of Brits stay here, and compared to the other hotels, this offers a much better price. In fact most of the other hotels are downright dull. TIP. If you have a Disney Hotel Easy Pass, drive and park in the New York Hotel. It’s a lot shorter walk to the Park (through Disney Village) than the ridiculous hike from the car parks.

Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch is a great place to stey with big families. Lovely wilderness lodge cabins. Amazing themed pool and Activities. Great shop with merchandise and Food. Top Disney Hotel.

Before we left on holiday, I had read some truly dreadful reviews of DCR and set off with some trepidation!
I think it is true that if you have more than two children you are limited to where you can stay, which is a shame. However, was pleasantly surprised with our 1 bedroom cabin and the kids adored it, especially collecting the breakfast in the morning. Only 10 min drive to Disney, free parking and you get the extra magic hours.
Have booked to go back next year so it can’t be that bad, though it sounds like it’s pot luck as to the state of the cabin you get. Agree with all those that say the cabins could do with an update. Pool was freezing (this was in August) but overall very pleased. Spent so much time in Disneyland didn’t get to try out the other facilities at the Ranch.
