  1. Stayed here between 28th of August – 30th of August 2009. Stayed in the Admiral floor (upgraded by the Hotel) and can’t fault the room. The Reception staff except one was very unfriendly (un disney like), didn’t understand English. Pool was stone cold and only opened at 3.00pm everyday. Didn’t get the room keys until 3.00pm (although the hotel wasn’t full). Restaurant staff friendly and nice.

Overall, I think the staff are not very friendly here and we won’t be staying here again. We normally stay at Sequoia Lodge, thought we will try this as it is better. Back to Sequoia Lodge after this.

  2. We stayed on the admiral floor with lake view and balcony for 5 nights Aug 20th 09. Arrived late at night and found check in to be a breeze, really helpful staff, leaflets provided and a thorough explaination regarding making meal reservations, our luggage was brought to our room and a tea and coffee complimentary box brought up.

The room was clean and comfortable, 2 double beds, but the television only had 2 english speaking channels, news and a disney channel.

We enjoyed a mixture of breakfast in our room, in the park and in the breakfast room of the hotel, I would definately recommend paying the 10euro for room service to save an early start with two small children. The queues later in the morning were very long and must have been awful with hungry kids in tow. Continential style was fine but the cooked wasn’t worth the extra 12euro for 2 persons.

I agree with other reviews that the pool was chilly and in need of some cosmetic TLC in parts but we spent most of our time in the parks and visited the pool only once during our stay. The staff throughout the hotel couldn’t be nicer, the characters in the foyer each morning was a nice addition especially as there was a mannerly queue system. For some reason some adults in the parks feel the need to push past waiting children to meet the characters. Is it not all about the children!! Regardless, my kids got to meet so many characters throughout their stay that the autograph book if now full. Just to note, the princesses are definiately well hidden, we booked a meal at Auberge to guarantee meeting them and weren’t disappointed. My daughter met each one, who came over to each girls table, photos, autographs galore and a very happy little girl.

The queues were very long for the majority of rides, especially Nemo, there is no fast pass for this very popular ride! Either go first thing in the morning or later at night to ensure short or no queues at all. The parades are fantasitc and fireworks, breathtaking.

    TIPS :
    Bring comfortable trainers!!
Book evening meals in the morning to ensure a normal dining time
Re-fill water bottles from the water fountains all over both parks, we borught the kids favourite diluting juice and made drinks up daily. Saves a fortune, 3.50 euros per drink!

We had a great time, just seeing the kids dancing and clapping along to the music made our holiday. The additional cost of upgrading and pre booking the meal plan was well worth it. Just spending money for souveners. Would recommend this hotel, 15 minute walk to the parks, though going to book the Disneyland hotel next for a treat at christmas.

  3. Newport Bay Club Hotel, was fantastic it was the best experiance ever. The hotel was beutiful and spectacular. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I stayed on the Admiral Floor with the Lake Side view and it was very clean and it had a cosy and happy atmospere!

  4. We spent four nights here over Easter, and stayed in an Admiral’s Floor room with a lake view and a balcony (certainly one of the best views from the hotel). We were very pleased with the room. It was nice and roomy. The sink/bathroom area was set aside from the rest of the room, which gave us parents a good place to retreat to once the little ones were in bed. The double beds weren’t terribly big, so after a bad night’s sleep, we changed configuration to one adult and one child per bed. Benefits of the Admiral’s Floor included an in-room safe, and towel hire included in the rate.

Breakfast at 7am was fairly relaxed, but soon got busy. The continental breakfast had a fairly limited selection, but what they had was nice. The pool was quite chilly, and we ended up staying in the jaccuzzi, which was only slightly warmer.

The Bay Boutique was well-stocked, and it was possible to buy soft drinks at a better price than in the bar. The hotel’s meet and greet was well-organized, and there were a couple of special events on for Easter Sunday, but we decided to go to the park instead.

Walking with a 5 year-old and a 3 year-old in a stroller, the distance from the hotel to the gates of Disneyland Park was a mere 15 minutes. We couldn’t understand why anybody able-bodied would want to take a shuttle. Surely this takes longer, considering you have to walk from wherever the shuttle stops?

  5. My sister and I visit DLRP every year at least once. We ususally stay 3 nights, tried all the Disney hotels. And..we must say…Newport Bay Club is our alltime favourite! It looks so beautiful! The rooms are nice and comfortable, staff is friendly and we think it’s the best value for your money…We will stay here again this year from 23 untill 26th of August!

  6. I LOVE this hotel! I have stayed here 5 times now and its always great! Lovely atmosphere in the lobby but do avoid between 830 and 10 in the morning its packed! Really good base for a short or long stay.

Just a short walk round the lake to the village. This is lovely in the morning on the way to the parks as the shuttle buses get packed. Equally pleasant at night after a meal in the village. Also if you get the vea shuttle bus from the airport – its the first stop. This really makes a difference because I’ve stayed in the other hotels and it can take up to 45 minutes after it stops at every hotel. Really handy left luggage too.

I always recommend this hotel for first time visitors and happily pay a little extra to stay here every time. As I have said I have stayed in just about all the other hotels and this is the best for location, decor and atmosphere.

  7. We have stayed at this hotel three times and have had a very pleasant stay each time. It is the largest of the Disney hotels in DLRP and also the light style of decoration makes it feel the most airy and spacious. The downside of its large size is that it can feel a bit like a maze when trying to find your way to and from the bedrooms.

The rooms are fairly spacious, certainly larger than the Cheyenne and lighter and brighter than the Sequoia Lodge, and have a table and chairs and dressing area with hanging space.

We found the staff to be very helpful providing extra pillows, a kettle and a hairdryer promptly at our request.

We have eaten in the buffet restaurant here several times and have always had lovely meals with a good range of food for both adults and children. As with all the restaurants I would recommend booking a table in advance otherwise the queues can be long, and tired, hungry children do not make good queue buddies!

This hotel is a pleasant five to ten minute walk to the parks along the lake side and through Disney Village and we did not find it necessary to use the hotel bus service.

We would recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay here again.

  8. I received a free upgrade to the Newport Bay Club when I arrived at my original hotel, the Santa Fe, on 6th october 2008. Of course I said yes please!

The lakeside entrance to the hotel is just beautiful, as are the public areas, reception, bar, restaurants etc.

However, our rooms were on the 1st floor in the East Wing. I feel that this wing is in need of some TLC I’m afraid. To begin with, only 3 of the 5 lifts were working during our whole stay. Our rooms were near the end of the East Wing, which was quite a trek, past the swimming pool and games arcade. The corridors there need touching up, wallpaper beginning to peel etc. When we reached our rooms, unfortunately 2 of the lights in my room didn’t work, and the patio doors, once opened, could not be locked again. I had to call maintenance 3 times in total before these things were fixed, at 11pm (which included the maintenance guy taking a light switch off the wall, exposing bare wires, and leaving it like that for about 30 minutes, right next to the bed where my daughter and niece were trying to sleep). The bathroom was also looking dreary – marks around the top of the bath, on the tiles, mangy grout etc.

I think if you had a recently-refurbished toom, and used the pool, this hotel would be lovely. The only advantage for our party over the Santa Fe or the Cheyenne however, was the proximity of the Newport Bay Club to the Village and the Parks. A 5-minute walk rather than a 15-minute one (advantage cancelled out slighty though by the easily 5-minute extra trek to our room from the entrance of the hotel).

  9. Stayed here on 21st-24th July 08, after being moved from the Cheyenne after our room flooded! This hotel looks amazing and is much more grown up then the Cheyenne. As the biggest hotel in Europe it is HUGE and as the corridors all look very similar, it is a bit of a maze, I actually got lost one day looking for the way back from the ice machine!

The pool is fantastic, and was relatively quiet on a very hot July day. There is a outdoor and indoor pool, as well as a whirl pool and spa, there is however no real pool for weak swimmers or children who may not be confident in a 4′5″ deep pool.

The staff were all polite and we had absolutely no complaints at all with the hotel, it was very busy at breakfast time, but i’m guessing all the hotels would have been in July.

I’d definitely recommend this hotel, though maybe more to older families, than those with young children.

  10. Nice hotel, very nice themed, with so nice atmosphere. So nice to walk through, and make some pictures.

But….. There was so crowded, that it was hard to walk through corridors. We was in the evening of 21. May, few days ago, and it was horrible. We have dinner in the Cape Cod, reservation time was 21:30. When we finished, at the 22:40 at the exit, there was the line of people, around 30 m long, and all of them had reservation, and they waiting for the place in the restaurant. Horrible situation, children crying, everybody was nervous. Hotel stuff tried their best, but….

Pool is nice, as big as in Sequoia, but better theming like some kind of ship. Also bigger outdoor pool then in Sequoia. Bar in hotel is fabulous, so nice, with marine combination of colors. Stuff is great, prices like in other Disney’s bars and restaurants.

Our final decision: nice hotel to see but not to stay in. It’s so overcrowded and because you spent so little time in hotel especially during breakfast and dinner you are always in the middle of crowd. We would always prefer other hotel than Newport.

  11. We stayed here last June and, as a result of a booking error in needing a non smoking room, we were upgraded from our lake view room to the Admirals Floor! It was wonderful. From our room we could see Sleeping Beauty’s castle and the mouse ears of the Studios Park. At night this view was awesome, and great to look out onto while our littlies slept.

The breakfast was the same fayre as the Cheyenne, we found it plentiful and varied. We especially enjoyed meals in the self serve buffet restaurant in the evening, as there was no delay in getting food to the kids after a long day in the park. We found it very reasonable and a great source of the fruit and veg so often lacking in other restarants in the parks and village.

This was our third DLRP holiday, and we chose this hotel for the fact we were staying for 6 days, and wanted more facilities and comfort, as we envisaged spending more time at the hotel during our stay. The short walk to the village made the hotel easy to return to for a rest in the daytime, or to get ready for extra hours in the park. The room was larger than the Cheyenne’s, with a separate vanity and wardrobe area, and table and chairs in the room. The actual amenities in the room were similar to the Cheyenne’s and the cleanliness and decoration of the same good standard we have come to expect from Disney. The hotel is enormous, and the grounds and pool are lovely. The staff were helpful, in particular those greeting us for breakfast each day.

Meeting Characters is easy here and worth doing compared to the queues in the parks, a schedule is put up every day in the lobby to tell you who to expect. The shop is well stocked and the bars are lovely to relax in with a hot chocolate at the end of a day of dreams! We would stay here again, but would pay for a lake view room as this is a super treat for the grown ups in your party. If we were visiting on a two night break where we would expect to use our room as a base we would plump for the Cheyenne for value.

This hotel is super to experience and comes highly recommended by us!

  12. This hotel is reputed to be the largest in Europe and I can believe it!
The reception area is very well appointed and the decor is right for this themed hotel.
We stayed over the weeks before Christmas and the Chirstmas decoration really set off the hotel. As did the piano in the reception that played by itself!

The rooms can be a long way from the hotel entrance so be prepared for a bit of a walk and the corridors do confuse as they are all similar in colour scheme. Our room was well decorated and everything worked – full marks.
We had a view over the swimming pool and even a little veranda – not that we could use it in the middle of winter.

Breakfast is buffet style as is expected in the resort hotels and there are two dining rooms that offer a wide range of dishes – again themed on the eastern seaboard of the US.

We found Nemo in the fish tank in the entrance lobby to the restaurants. Most of the species featured in the film were in there. It kept us amused while we waited to be seated.

Being located at the far end of the lake (from the Village) it can be quite a walk after a busy day in the Park or Studios back to the hotel so younger guests might get a little fed-up and tired.

The shop is not the biggest of those in the hotels but it stocks what the others do.

  13. Been to the Newport Bay Club on my last trip in September 2007 and I would go there again and again. It’s my favourite hotel now. The style and theme is beautiful. We had a lovely big room. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. The whole hotel was clean and there are a lot of nice facilities in it like the two bars, the two restaurants, the pool and the shop.

The location at Lake Disney is perfect and very close to the park, so we never needed to use the shuttle bus. Breakfast is great, a lot to choose from and calm. We always had a table with a lake view which was perfect.

I can’t await to go there again and for me it’s a 10/10.

  14. Stay there 7 times .. allways nice rooms. Often got a upgrade on a lakeside room.

  15. Amazing hotel, really posh reception area and rooms are lovely, the corridors can get confusing as they all look the same, but really good bar and restaurant.

Amazing pool and good views of the lake, close to the village and parks.

  16. We stayed from 18th Dec- 21st 2007. We come to DLRP every other year and we ALWAYS stay at the Newport Bay Hotel. The is 12 of us that go and we have 6 rooms, I fax the hotel about 2 weeks before we go asking for rooms close together and every year they are within a few feet from one another. The staff are friendly enough, the rooms are cleaned well and bathroom soaps etc are replenished every day.

The breakfast is as you would expect- continental and is buffet style so you can stock up as much as you want for the day. We waited in line for maximum of 20 mins to check in, yes its a little walk to the room but having just travelled from England, a few extra paces didnt harm us. The location is fabulous just a 10 min stroll to the parks. Our heaters in our rooms werent too noisy and if it got suffy we opened the window for 10 mins and it soon sorted it out. The decor is slightly dated however is in-keeping with the hotel theme and done very well.

The 2 English Channels I could find were BBC News and Disney channel – all we needed as we had paid for park passes we didnt actually have that much time for TV! All in all a lovely experience as always!

  17. I can’t understand why the Newport Bay Club gets such a bad press. We’ve just come back from our 2nd visit and it was EXCELLENT! Everything from the check-in, the room, the food, service and the staff were 1st class. We had a great time and would go back tomorrow.

Come on!! Let’s hear it for Newport Bay!!

  18. We stayed at the Newport Bay Club from the 16/12/07 until the 19/12/07. We found it absolutely fantastic. We stayed on the ground floor with double doors out to a little terrace overlooking the pool. The room itself was very clean, fresh and tidy. We thought the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional and basically we couldn’t fault it. We have stayed in the Sequioa Lodge but we much prefer NBC. I would definately recommend it and we will stay there again.

  19. Before discovering the Disneyland Hotel this was our favorite hotel in Disneyland Paris! Our rooms were always very clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We always enjoyed our meals in the hotel restaurants and the food was always good. Yes the hotel is big but when we stayed there it had a wonderful ambiance and our children really loved it. We found this to be a very family friendly hotel and a nice didtance from the park with lovely views over the lakeside. I feel it deserves a better rating than it is getting here.

  20. What a disappointment after staying at the sequoia lodge.

Checking in took us 1,5 hours after a 5 hours trip by car, not a warm welcome. Smelly room, wall paper coming of the walls, our safe wasn’t working and after a few times asking for help at the reception we gave up.

Breakfast was over crowded we had to wait 30 minutes in a queue for a table. And after spending the whole day in the park we went back to the hotel and the distance from the main reception to our room felt like another day walking in the park again as we were staying in the latest room in the corridor!

  21. My family and I have visited Disney Land Paris 4 times now and have more or less enjoyed it, on our first visit to Disney 2003 we automatically got a free upgrade from Santa Fe to Newport Bay.

This was all exciting for us as we were staying in one of the biggest Hotels in Europe. We have to say that the first visit was fantastic the weather was constant blue skies every day while we were there and very very hot…..(Great Holiday).

So as most people do they get good service and its makes your mind up where your next hotel is going to be for the following year…Yes NEWPORT BAY, unfortunatley this did not happen we ended up in Sequoia Lodge the rooms were ok to a point we could not open the windows to let air in and the reason why they would not open they had locked them a very bad health and safety act there….

Anyway the holiday went very well and as always we were planning our next holiday to Disney….. But this were things went horribly wrong….

We booked up as we normally did for the 2006 trip to Disney and planned our days out, well when we arrived at the NEWPORT BAY HOTEL, we were informed that there was no parades due to a CAST STRIKE over pay.

This really upset us but we tried to enjoy the holiday the best we could, but low and behold all the Cast Members were disputing blowing trumpets whistles waving banners and walking round the resort spoiling everything for every customer, at one point I was pushed aside so that they could get past…. I won`t type down what I thought but I was extremely angry over this.

The room we were staying in at the Newport Bay was to say the least basic, like other people have mentioned the wall paper was coming of the walls if not ripped off already, we had problems trying to open the safe so I had to go and see a member of staff to report this.

I was told the manager would come and visit us to open it…. we waited and waited………. and waited…….. and waited….. should I go on?
Anyway I went back again to the reception to state my case again…..we waited…… and waited…..but hey presto he arrived….

So this 2006 holiday went pearshaped, this was an expensive holiday for us and we didn`t get our moneys worth….

So as it was coming up to the 15th Anniversary 2007 we planned and hoped we would have a better holiday…….. Yes as planned we stayed at the Newport Bay Hotel…….. what a disaster…… Our room was like another person had said was like miles away, and the room…. well it was very smelly…. as if the drains were badly blocked wallpaper coming off the walls my daughter even found blood on the bottom sheet of her bed.

We had to open the windows to let some fresh air in and we were at the back of the hotel facing a very busy road…..who needs an alarm clock hey!!

But as always we tried to put this behind us and enjoy our holiday, we had read the holiday broucher previously before coming and it stated there would be a lot more characters as to see around the resort as it was the 15th Anniversary, now that was a lie in itself there was no more characters than there was the preivious year….. I took that as a sales talk to get customers to the resort……..false info…. I our our eyes the NEWPORT BAY HOTEL is slowing SINKING standards are at a very very all time low, and staff working there should be disgusted with themselfs (Cleaning Staff that is).

Like the old english saying you get what you pay for…….. At Disney that don`t mean a thing…… like me I work hard to take my family to Disney as my daughter is crazy about it (even though she`s 21) but we do it for her, like me she works hard so she like me wants good service for what we pay and quality.

I just hope next years 2008 holiday is better….. we live in hope… BUT newport is out of our plans…..

Last thing………… I sent Disney DLRP an email with regards to this 2007 holiday and all I got was that I should of reported this to management…… but from what I have read in the last review they fob you off with a upgrade meal…… talk about not sorting the problem out and ignoring your complaints…..

All members of the cleaning staff must wear gas masks or have no smell at all as I would of thought that they would pick up on this and report it to management….. whatever!

  22. I have stayed here once about three years ago. The hotel room was fine, clean and comfortable but I didn’t like being in such a large hotel it felt rather impersonal. The walk to our room seemed to take forever and I can’t say I was over impressed with the restaurant, very middle of the road.

Location was fine but I wouldn’t really want to stay here again. It didn’t really make much of an impression on me and the magic of Disney didn’t really shine through!

By junglebaggie on 4th November 2007

  23. We stayed at the Newport Bay Club from October 25 for two nights. We checked in after 6:00 PM and it took them a while to get us a room. The people at registration were very nice, but not all their information was correct. We were given a room facing the hotel entrance. We didn’t care for the view. Even though it was cold outside, the room was stuffy. The air conditioner did not work, so we opened the door to the balcony, however we could not stand the noise from all the buses and cars. There were also screaming kids that would not stop screaming for some reason. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, we were advised that the hotel does not provide air conditioning (in winter). As for screaming kids, his excuse was that kids scream at Disney. There were other problems with the room including a locked safe, no ice bucket, a stuffed drain in the sink and peeling wallpaper. There was no information book in the room, so we assumed there was no room service, which there was. The TV only has a few channels and only two in English. The TV remote was very difficult to use. The entire hotel is also not ready for wireless internet. In this day and age, I think there should be at least wired internet in every room.

The manager tried his best to make us happy, by offering us an upgraded breakfast, but it really was too little, too late.

Smoking was also an issue for us. Of course, they did not permit smoking in our floor, but people would smoke just outside the main doors to the hotel, which meant walking through a fog of smoke every time we entered and exited the hotel. This seemed to be a problem at the parks as well.

The good parts of the hotel was, of course, the location – walking distance to the parks. We had no problems with the buses.

I was really expecting more from Disney. I’ve stayed at many other Disney hotels around the world and this one really needs improvement.

We stayed our last night in Paris at the Dream Castle hotel, which was much better, for less money.
